ZR race

I did a local race in Mexicali(laguna salada) on Sunday May 8th. Richy and Rene (ZR promotions) put on a great race. It was good to see my friends from DP racing also. These guys are awsome and give me full encouragement and support. It was a GP that lasted 80 miles within a time span of around 90 minutes plus or take a few (not sure the exact time). Four 20 mile laps of whoops, sand, rocks etc. It took me a lap just to get my 2 wheel skills back after racing the quad last weekend in SF. Lap 2 I was full of confidence and ready to pick up the pace. I took the lead on lap 3 and held it until 15 miles of the final lap. An XR650 passed me like a rocket and I wasn't to happy about that so the battle began. We battled for the next 10-15 miles back in forth 1st and 2nd, 1st and 2nd. We were both giving it our all to the end. It felt like a Rocky movie. It was great racing but in the end he had a better line and took the checkered flag before me. He took 1'st and I was happy with 2nd. It was a great day in the desert and I made it back home for our mothers day bbq at my house. I will try to post a picture of my son and I getting my plaque...Paul

I hope to prerun Sunday May 22nd and Sunday May 29th. I'll only be able to prerun for one day at a time because of work. I'll leave El Centro around 6:00am. Drive to Valle De la Trinidad and prerun to Ojos Negros then come back through Ensenada and cross in Tecate. 12-14 hour days for sure. I'll let you know radio freq as we get closer. When are you leaving for your trip ?

I am really excited for you Paul! Please post details such as your vehicle #, what section you will be riding, etc. Perhaps any Baja Nomads who are spectating along the course can make a sign with your # or 'Eat More Tuna' on it, and can offer emergency pit help for you!

We're starting our trip on Friday May 27th. We're going to fish the pacific side for a couple of days then go exploring further south. Be back to Ensenada on Friday. We have rooms at the Ensenada Inn.
