Generators
I am in the market for a portable generator. I have narrowed my choice down a Honda 5k unit and a Cummins/Onan 6k model (Currently on sale @ Costco).
I know the Honda is a bit quieter and very reliable, but it is also tad more $$. What I don't know is the reliability of the Cummins/Onan unit. The
added power is quite appealing, but there is that noise factor. Does anybody have any experience w/ this generator, or any Cummins/Onan generators?
Any input on either will be much appreciated.
I will be using to supplement solar power to 28ft parked trailer and garage.

My onan seems to be bullet proof, I will get another if this one ever gets tired.

If the Cummins Onan is diesel powered...... thats the ticket.
But probably a bit noisier than the Honda for sure.

The Cummins Onan from Costco is gas powered, not diesel. Knowing this, would you still opt for it, or go with the Honda?

I wonder if that Cummins/Onan can be converted to propane. Anybody know if possible and how much it would cost? I was looking at a honda 6000 propane
unit since I would rather not haul and store gasoline.

El Jefe,
I don't know, but you can call the Cummins/Onan Service rep. I did twice, and both times I had to leave a message. I got return calls within a
couple of hours. Both times the sales rep took the time to answer all of my questions. I was impressed w/ the cust. service to say the least.
Check out the generator@

Or call:
Cummins/Onan1-800-283-0336. Ask for the Consumer Product's Specialist.
