CABO MAGIC Sportfishing Summary

We continue to experience unusual climate conditions for the calendar time period. Daytime temps are warm and comfortable due to the sunshine, however, evenings are considerably cooler. Water temperatures also unusually cooler around the cape but that could serve to be a good thing as the Eastern Pacific storm season officially begins June 01 and runs to the end of October. We are finding good sizes of YellowTail and Sierra close to the arch.

Folks did you know you can take a private afternoon sunset cruise with us and catch fish too!?! Its a great idea for those guests in the group who dont want to spend an entire day on the water. Its also great for those for whom getting to the marina at 6:30am to go fishing simply does not fit into their definition of vacation! We invite you to enjoy the experience in a two or three hour sunset cruise with us.

Some highlights of this period:

Rose and Dan Egan of Aurora, Colorado in their first visit fished with us and boated 8 Yellowfin Tuna aboard our 26' "DONA PAS". Ideal boat for two along with your two man crew.

The Garland Group of Los Angeles, California entertained their corporate clients aboard our 35' Bertram Sportfisher "CABO MAGIC" released two Striped Marlin and boated 21 Yellowfin Tuna (most in the 30-40# class) in their two days of fishing.

Casey and Karen Clark of Reno, Nevada had a great time with Capt Hugo on our panga "KARINA" boasting 3 YellowTail as well as 4 Sierra (Spanish Mackeral)

The Gregory and Michelle Truslow Party of Palmyra, Virginia had a fabulous day aboard "CABO MAGIC" with Capt Hector and First Mate Roberto boating 15 Yellowfin Tuna - and then headed to the New Jersey Shore to share with friends there too!

Richard Talmadge of Issaquah, Washington fishes Cabo San Lucas a few times each year. This time he fished with us aboard our panga "OSO BLANCO" and in spite of the unpleasant windy conditions he caught 2 skipjack + 1 Sierra.

The Bradley Group of Atlanta, Georgia entertained corporate clients for two days aboard our 55' Buddy Davis "EXCELLENCE" and split the day for results. One day the had no suerte (spanish for no luck) and the other day they boated 10 Yellowfin Tuna which was prepared that evening at the villa they stayed in by the chef. The comments by all was that each dish was better than the previous and they could not agree on which was the best. They decided to return another time and start all over!

The Andy McCarthy Group arranged a last minute getaway from Malibu, California and fished with us aboard "CABO MAGIC" and got in on the hot Yellowfin Tuna bite too!

During a half day aboard our 38' Pearson "ADRENALINE" to do some sightseeing of real estate from the Sea of Cortez view the Kendall Smithing Group of Las Vegas, Nevada put lines in the water at the arch for 20 minutes and caught 2 nice sized sierra (Spanish Mackeral) which was prepared by the restaurant La Casa del Dorado (one of our favorites) into delicious ceviche as an appetizer to their dinner.
All Captains and First Mates aboard the CABO MAGIC Sportfishing Team of Charter Boats want to thank all guests for the opportunity to welcome them aboard. Your safety is our primary concern, followed by entertaining you and getting you "on fish".
Daily catch results can always be found on our website on the Daily Catch Reports page. Anglers wishing to research and compare days/months/years/seasons can do so easily from our site as we provide an accurate archive of CABO MAGIC TEAM reports accessible back to the year 2000.
Those who have "no suerte" are understandably not happy, however, our clients who do get skunked report to us they are pleased with our crews efforts to find them fish and understand "thats why they call it fishing!" Why do some boats catch fish and others get skunked? Conditions of winds, water currents, tides, Mother Nature plus plain old 'being in the right place at the right time!" makes all the difference.
We encourage catch and release of billfish as our crews are skilled in the revival process. Sometimes a fish will die for numerous possible reasons, and when that happens, our crews see to it that the flesh and carcass are utilized in a responsible manner. There are alternative procedures followed by other captains and we will not make comment on that.

Remember the adage: "The shoemakers children have no shoes" Our crews are out fishing as their job, not recreationally. They and their families are sincerely appreciative when a guest donates eating fish to them in addition to a monetary propina (gratuity)
A reminder to all guests that sunscreen can be considered the most important personal item they should remember to pack for their trip.

We encourage guests to respect Fish Quantity Limits and to practice responsible fishing practices. We acknowledge those who support our efforts in doing so.

The majority of charter companies in Cabo San Lucas provide reputable services with crews that will work hard for you. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Our crews hard work and our words certainly do inspire.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard too! Tommy and Lori Garcia
