Boat permit
Does anyone know if you have an imported boat(matriculation) and that long number do you have to get the yearly boat permit.

comitan for fishing yes . if you aren't fishing and don't have any tackle on board then no you don't need it.

Comitan, further explanation,,, the boat matricula(this translates to "registration") is for all boats residing here in Mexico, left here in Mexico,
period.
The Only exception to a Mexican Registration of your boat is that this boat being pulled on a boat trailer will immediately be going back up to the
USA with the gringo owner pulling it.
So, if you leave a boat down here, and you yourself go back to the USA, this boat of yours must get the Mexican Matricula numbers, issued by the Port
Captain's office, which is part of the SCT administration.
Many gringos leave their boat down here and think their USA State of California Fish and Game numbers qualifies for their registration. This is only
true for the boats that only stay here with the gringo tourist on an FM-T for the short period the FM-T is good for.
You and your boat are in definite jeopardy if you get into a problem down here, and a check of your personal immigration status and boat status has to
take place.
A typical problem here is when one of these "outlaw" boats damages someone else's boat or property, or sinks, or the owner is questioned by one of the
many officials about it.
Then this gringo will definitely find himself in deep do-do and will pay, pay, pay!!!
Sometimes I think this may be the real reason that enforcement has been lax, I.E. a bigger payday from the guilty gringo.

Thanks for the info, the boat is registered here just thought a person would not have to get the boat permit when getting fishing license.

FYI
If you have "USA State of California Fish and Game numbers " you better leave your boat in the USA.
The CF numbers are California DMV numbers, state registration and have nothing to do with California Department of Fish and Game.
If you have USA State of California Fish and Game numbers on your boat you can not legally fish in Mexican waters without doing a major paperwork cha
cha and making a large financial donation to the Federal Republic of Mexico as a foreign commercial fishing operator.
Temporary Import Permits also allow gringo owners to be absent from their boats left in Mexcio but be sure to check with the Port Captain where the
boat will be left.
All boats which fish or carry even so much as a single hook, Mexican or foreign, require a fishing permit from PESCA.

Wow, I've never heard that before. This is above and beyond the 10 TIP? So do you work with the port captain on the registration? I assume the
marina's can do this for you for a fee.
