Not sure about personal watercraft? Good condition ATV's are very hard to come by here in San Felipe unless you find someone selling out that does not want to take them back to states.Few & Far between! You are better off to buy there and bring them with you! We actually went to Tucson. Az. and bought a couple. MUCH easier!! Prices were better too as if people are selling them here they seem to be kinda spendy!!

An alternative to ATVs...

Not sure if you had your heart set on having ATVs but a more practical, fun mode of transportation is an air-cooled VW powered buggy, sandrail, or Baja bug. They are plentiful in San Felipe and there's always someone selling one cheap. I acquired mine on a no-cash deal, trading an old mini truck to a local. They're simple to work on and loads of inexpensive parts are still made for them.

Unlike ATV's, you can take a buddy or two along AND a load of camping gear, drive safely and legally on the road and generally get better fuel economy and a much longer range than those 4-wheelers. They handle rough washboard equally as well as soft sand.

This forum's own Meme and her hubby hooked me up with a cool Baja bug set up just the way I wanted and I've had a blast ripping around the back country and taking camping trips down to Gonzaga with it. Thanks again, Meme! :yes:

Just my dos centavos :bounce::rolleyes::smug:

I think the best thing to have is a couple of good dirt bikes. you can really explore Baja. here in Mulege the only ones that have the for wheelers are the really old people that cant set on a motorcycle anymore. we call them Baja Rascals.

Dirt bikes?..maybe not..

I would think a 'hot-air' balloon would be very advantageous..as there seems to be so much of it available.

Baja Bugs can go most anywhere

especially beach sand. A motorcycle is near impossible for this.
4x4Quads are also really good because they too have a lot of room for storage. Exploring=Thirsty, Hungry!

A lot of travel is in sandy washes (arroyos) and many of them are too narrow for a buggy but a quad will fit.. Sandy washes= very difficult motorcycle riding.

I guess as a "Baja Rascal":lol:, I would have to say that for us old guys, a quad is probably the best on our backs because of rocks, surprise potholes, and using legs as shock absorbers.:light:

Come on jr!

I saw you in that arroyo, riding past me in that Limo last year :lol:

This post BTW....come just in time for me! Thanks all for the links and such. It's time to get the young one his own wheels for off roading (he earned straight A's in school for the fifth year in a row).

My question is this: the boy is 10. What c/c size you all think he should get? For a quad runner that is....
