Loreto Gas stations
GAS RIPOFFS
Here in Loreto there are only 2 stations, both owned by the same sheister. How do these people get away selling gas at prices way beoynd the price
quoted on the pump. I have a panga and fuel it up with 19 liter gas cans .(standard). Here in Loreto both stations always manage to put 22 to 23
liters in my 19 liter can. When asking the attendant, he explains that he only works there. I really have no qualms about the gringos getting ripped
off, but what about the locals that work for $10.00 a day, drive these old gas guzzlers we ship south of the border ??? When asking my local friends
,they shrug their shoulders and explain that complaining to the authorities is a waist of efforrt and never get you anywhere.

Lto gas
Right after Easter week they adjusted the pumps in the customer's favor.
Before: 1 US gal was 6.4 liters (3.785 is actual) about 40% rip off.
Now: 1 US gal is 4.something liters. Better, but still a rip.
Alas, yes, it steals from rich and poor alike. No Robin Hood here.

unfortunately they are probably right that complaining to the authorities is a waist of effort and never get you anywhere.except maybe more problems
for you.
here in Mulege we have a similar problem and one guy took it upon his self to complain very loudly and now he drives all the way to Santa Rosalia to
get gas because they wont sell hem any gas anymore.
forget about the government coming in on a big white horse to help you out you are in Mexico and it doesn't work that way here. ether buy something or
don't but protesting and complaining don't work in Mexico

Buy a good tank, put it on Wheels and drive to the first Gas Station at Fresno Ejido. buy gas there.

I have spent 35 years in and out of Loreto. Gas has always been a problem. Water in the gas. Very short liters and shortchanged if you don't leave
your hand out until you get the correct amount. I have discussed this with my Mexican friends and they say they are used to getting screwed by the
stations. I think complaining would just be a waste of time too. I just pay like everyone else and hope for the best. Anyway, it reminds me of here
in the U.S. Don't you think the gas companies are screwing us pretty good now....and its going to get worse.

when it goes over $3.50/gal for diesel, watch out. there will be some trucker strikes across the US. When it reaches $4/gal..best start hoarding
gold.

When I bought my diesel in '95 diesel was cheaper than regular. Now it is 10c more a gallon than super up here in Montana. I guess we can be grateful
that the Mexican Govt. still keeps the price reasonable. I would hate to have to pay our prices. I live 2 driving days from the border.

I swore that if it ever got over $2.00 a gallon, I was going to find something else to drive. Well it did, and my 91 Geo Metro red convert gets me
40-45 mpg. Ten gallon tank. I know that my life is now not worth a plug nickel should I get into an accident. But I think I am protesting in my own
small way to the prices. Just filled up my diesel pickup. 35 gallons at $2.97.9 a gallon, and the Texaco dealer is a friend and he says, won't be
long that it will be $3.17.9 and from what I'm seeing, I'm believing him. How are the $5.00 a day waged Mexicans managing to pay those prices?? And
the comment about hoarding gold is "right on"!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ed. Here is something for you to consider. Since they didn't do anything with the lot out on the highway south of Loreto (they being Pemex) why
don't you and I build a new super station there, and since we are retired and living on fixed income, offer to the travelers a discounted price with
honest pumping. That way we would have something to do besides, golf, fish, and watch Nopolo grow!!!!!!!! Another thought woud be to be the first
established "electric car" dealer in Nopolo/Loreto. Sounds like a real money maker. My brother in law on the east coast is a research Chemist, and
has been working on grants for better batteries now for about 15 years, and thinks he is about to make a breakthrough, and maybe we could offer these
cars with longevity juice of say, 500 miles between charging. What you think??? Phil S

Well, gas is $4.50/gal in Holland & 12 cents/gal in Caracas.

$6.48 in Amsterdam, Netherlands....was just in Manchester, England where it was about $5.50 equivalent. Saudia Arabians have cheap fuel at pennies
a gallon, but would you live there?
