Here's the photo I took on Dec. 31, 2001 on our way to hook up with Paulina and the gang at L.A. Bay for New Year's Eve, coming north from San Ignacio. Unique in that it is the only Baja mission with a detached bell tower!

Of special interest is that one of the bells was cast for the next proposed mission to the north along the Gulfo Camino Real, and bares its name: Santa Maria Magdalena... this is that 'Lost Mission' I am searching for! That Jesuit project was abandoned in favor of San Borja.

Santa Gertrudis

David. Don't you mean the alleged "lost mission?" The story of the trials and tribulations in the establishment of Santa Gertrudis is interesting enough. I am attaching one of Gulick's photos from the U.C. San Diego web site.
