Team Summary 21-27 August

60 Team Captains report the following summary numbers for the period.

8 Blue Marlin

27 Striped Marlin

6 Pacific Sailfish

3 Dorado

3 Wahoo

25 Yellowfin Tuna

2 Roosterfish

12 YellowTail

We experienced a combination of sunny skies, scattered rain and windy conditions produced by Hurricane Hilary, Tropical Storm E9 and Tropical Depression Irwin this period. The Port Captain closed our port on Monday August 22nd as Hurricane Hilary passed several hundred miles south created wild conditions. The outer bands of the hurricane provided welcomed rain to the agricultural areas of Todos Santos and San Jose del Cabo.

A good variety of fish were caught, released, and boated. The unusual catch of YellowTail is a good continued indication of what is ?not typical? for this calendar time. Guests reported excellent efforts by crews despite a few skunked boats.

Some highlights of the period

A Blue Marlin estimated in the 350-400# class was successfully released by Amigo Dr Steinberg and his Group visiting from Bethpage, Long Island, New York. Dr. Steinberg tells us "I have always wanted to take my family on a trip to Cabo San Lucas. Now that I am retired, I intend to do this more often. It was a fantastic trip."

Amigos Jim and Renee Callen had a good half day of fishing and released a Striped Marlin. Renee got a little seasick but was a trooper and hung on while hubby Jim fulfilled his dream. Bravo to both of you!

Our panga KARINA produced 12 YellowTail inshore for amigos Andy and Steve visiting from Long Beach, California. Unusual catch for this time of year as YellowTail prefers cooler waters we usually see March/April/May/June. Fantastic sashimi!

Newlywed Amigos Josh and Susan Longley of Tomball, Texas returned to fish with us aboard 35' Bertram "CABO MAGIC" and released 2 Striped Marlin and boated a large wahoo. From all of us at CABO MAGIC Sportfishing oour best wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness and of course 'tight lines and big fish"

Amigos Seth Lombard and Amy Holloran of Northridge, California boated a 30# Dorado. Amy tells us they enjoyed a wonderful dinner of freshly prepared fish at La Casa Del Dorado. One of our favorite local restaurants!

The Bachelor Party and Amigos Group of Matt Miller from Phoenix Arizona partied the night away and nursed their hangover on the water. Matt successfully fought and released the Marlin. Congratulations!

Amigo Dr Henry McLemore returned with his wife Angie and friends to fish two days with us aboard our 38' "ADRENALINE". Hurricane Hilary interferred with their plans to catch lots of fish however they did release one Striped Marlin. Lafayette Louisiana is home to the McLemore family and we all keep an eye on Hurricane Katrina.

Amigo John Dull fished with his son Joshua (age 14) and daughter Katie (age 12) aboard our newest team boat 31' "CABO MAGIC Dos" and released on Pacific Sailfish.

Aboard our 35' Bertram "CABO MAGIC" Amigos Russ Wilson and David Lewis from Suwanee, Georgia released 1 Striped Marlin and released 1 Pacific Sailfish! Congratulations!

Fishing with us for the first time with beginners luck, amigo Andy Vasquez released 1 Blue Marlin, released 1 Striped Marlin and boated 1 Wahoo. He plans to return again and go for Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado next time! Chula Vista, California is less than a two hour flight away.

Bringing Las Vegas luck along with them, fishing aboard CABO MAGIC, Amigos Brady Miller, Christine Sarandon, Lulu Sarandon, Al Miller released 3 Striped Marlin, released 1 Pacific Sailfish and boated 1 Wahoo.

Lulu tells us that Brady proposed to her on the beach that evening and that her twin Christine said yes to brother Al too! Very romantic gentlemen! A truly memorable trip for all of them!

Ending the period, Italiano Amici Dan Reza, Bruno Romgrano, James Reza from Rome, Italy fought and released 1 Blue Marlin estimated at 350# and boated 1 Wahoo. "Congratulazioni e ringraziamenti per la chiamata."
