Baja sur loop
We are flying into Cabo next month and renting a car. We've driven to Loreto from California a few times but want to check out La Paz, Todos santos
and Cabo Pulma. We need tips on great places to stay and eat. Fishing for my boyfriend and maybe an Itinerary from some of you experts out there who
have done it. We have seven days so i figured we'd head north when we get there and maybe stay a night or 2 in Cabo before we leave. We just want
basic clean rooms and lots of seafood. We like sleeping on the beach too! All info Helpful!! Thanks

First, go north to Cabo Pulmo and Bahia Los Frailes. You won't want to miss either. Be sure to have accomodations before you get there as things can
be busy at the East Cape this time of year.
While you are at Pulmos and Frailes, don't miss the snorkel tour or scuba diving the reef if you are qualified to do so. The water should be quite
clear, but you never know. There is a small beach on the north side of Pulmo called Playa Arbolitos. Very pretty and good snorkeling.
Head up to La Paz and take in the city next. Don't miss Bahia Balandra and Playa Tecolote. Both look and feel like the Carribean. A must is a boat
trip out to Los Islotes to snorkel with the sea lions. They are a hoot and the 15 mile ride along Isla Espirito Santo and Roca Partida is just
fantastic.
Next, head south on Highway 19 for Todos Santos. There are one or two really nice hotels tucked away in that area. Perhaps another poster that knows
the names will supply them for you. Todos Santos is a very serene, "artsy" little town that you will enjoy. If your husband likes to fish, have him
take a panga out of Punta Lobos. Not well known, but the fishing can be fantastic this time of year.
While in the Todos Santos area, check out San Pedrito trailer park. Before Hurricane Juliette in Sept. 2001, they had a great little restaurant there
and I believe it is now open again. Great surfing, body boarding and body surfing there.
Next to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Ignore the negative things some posters will tell you on this board. I live there part time and it can
be just as crazy-American or laid-back Mexican as you want to make it. Lots of good restaurants and not all of them are expensive. Look around and
have fun.
Good fishing in San Lucas and San Jose. In San Lucas, I recommend Cabo Magic Sportfishing. I've known Tommy and Lori Garcia for a while and they
will really treat you right. Just look them up on the web. Also, don't hesitate to take a panga trip inshore - cheaper and lots of fun. In San
Jose, go to Playitas and rent a panga for a trip to the Gordo Banks and environs. This is a lot of fun because you launch right off the beach which
is itself gorgeous.
If you are adventurous, try taking the East Cape road out of San Jose for a day. Just north of San Jose on the old road is a little palapa restaurant
called Buzzards. Great food and atmsophere. The owner is Denny and he too will treat you right.
Go have fun!

For an inexpensive place to stay in Cabo, try the Hotel Mar de Cortez (www.mardecortez.com). It is right in the heart of town with easy access to clubs, the harbor, good restaurants and all the touristy places.
Because it is enclosed by a wall, you don't get street noise. They have a pool, as well as a bar and an inexpensive restaurant with good food. I've
stayed there several times. It has a family atmosphere, and the noise is kept to a minimum after 10:00 or so. I've seen all ages there and visitors
from Europe and Australia as well as the states. They will help you arrange any fishing or sailing activities you may want to do, and they are quite
friendly and welcoming. Zoe

Anon put you in the right direction and dittos on the Mar de Cortez. In Cabo also dont miss the Tanga Tanga bar located on Marina Blvd under the steps
of the Fish House Restaurant. Cheap drinks and great people watching. Tell owner Brad and bartender Ruben hello.

Good advice on the Mar d Cortez, call Nat on the 800 number. Try the Baja Cantina on the Marina (just walk thru the hotel Plaza not so Glorias) to
the Marina side. Best deal on Bar food (3.00 for a big plate of Calamari) in Cabo.

Yes Arbolito is south of Pulmo.
South of Pulmo and south of the bluff camp area is a rancho road to the left that takes you down to the end of an arroyo at the beach. Fork right when
you see the hacienda. Great snorkeling and a hike to the south brings you to the dinasour egg rocks.

You also might try the Bungalows in Cabo. They have a website also. Its a bed and breadfast up on the hill. Great place to stay. You might try staying
at Martin Verdugo's in Los Barriles. He has a pool, charter boats and there's a good resturant within walking distance. Personally, I'd get out of
Cabo as soon as possible.
