Two young ladies in LaPaz
Take it easy ... one of them is my daughter!!! She has decided that instead of the "same old, same old" of Cabo she would like to spend some time
getting the flavor of a Mexican City. They are 25 and 27, both students in the medical field. One of them is fairly fluent in Spanish. Funds are
limited ...any suggestions for accomodations? They will not have a vehicle.
They are also looking for suggestions as far as night spots. Of course ... safety is my concern. Can anyone suggest anywhere they might go to meet
some of the locals around the same age?
They will be there sometime during the Christmas holidays.
They will look at some of the other posts re: good eating places but if there's any they should not miss, please advise.

M-R, if you take this over to Baja.Net, I guarantee you will get many, many offers from volunteer personal escorts. It's a good thing keyboard drool
doesn't transmit across the ethernet.
All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

I hope so, if not, it's got to be the dumbest post of all time on this board.

I'm actually very serious. They will be in Todos some of the time but would like to spend time in La Paz. I was hoping to give them suggestions as
to whether there was any night life in LaPaz where they would feel comfortable. Kirsten's experience has been Cabo the last 6-7 years and I do believe
it is quite different in LaPaz.

Places to stay:
Hotel Lorimar (just off the malecon on Bravo), and Hotel Calafia (west of the malecon) are two suggestions to start with. There are cheaper and
pricier options, but these two are towards the lower end and have been good choices in the past (it's been a while now however).
Best way to meet people:
Sit at one of the tables in front of the bars/coffee shops/restaurants along the malecon in the early evening. Lots of people to talk to.
Nightclubs are ever changing, and I'm sure someone may have some more updated info, but two places that were around for some time were La Pazlapa de
Carlos 'n Charlie's, and Las Varitas.
Here's some of the *old* info:

Thank you!!!! I have printed and will pass on. Any idea of prices at any of these places?
I think I will also get them to connect with a couple of young people who we know of in Todos who are at the University in La Paz.

Tooo Funny
I think if you also posted pictures it would get a lot more information
By the way Marie, do you know how many people read this stuff and who they really may be? Kinda scary in this case I think.
Especially since we were just watching tv about that girl that disappeared in Aruba tonight!

A lot of young people pass by the Perla's open-air restaurant and Carlos & Charlies, and if they could find a table near the street that would
maybe increase the chances of making contact with other young people. And the only charge would be the cost of something to drink or eat.

I am not so stupid as to post pictures and give personal info on the net. I was actually just asking for some information. (JR)

I don't think I was the only one who
"read something into" your post Marie I think it was the way it is titled or
something.
Anyway, I just wouldn't go looking for friends for my daughter like that. Sorry.

Hey JR-maybe you should read the post again...she never went looking for friends for her daughter...only travel info about La Paz. Maybe it's time
for you to go on vacation again. Things were much more enjoyable around here while you were away.

Thanks all. I actually feel quite secure about my parenting skills but appreciate the "safety risks" and concern of fellow posters. I have had some
great responses and found the info the girls were asking for. They are really looking forward to exploring LaPaz and I am hoping that it will be a
better experience than the usual Cabo thing. Talk about being worried about safety!!! It always bothered me when they were "clubbing" there

Having a daughter myself
and seeing both ET and CSI Miami last night, both related to the missing Aruba girl, must have set off my fatherly paranoia buttons.
Again Marie, I' wasn't trying to stir up trouble as this is something I take very seriously.
I am sorry if you took it that way but with the comments about Baja.net, and the mentality of many on here, I was just a little surprised to see
your post.
It had nothing to do with your parenting skills but more about many of the Nomads ideas on what goes on in Rosarito.
Probably just my paranoia when it comes to weirdos.

The little Bed and Breakfast, that I mentioned in my u2u, that is owned by my friend Esther is El Angel Azul... Esther has a website www.elangelazul.com but I'm thinking that this may a wee bit out of the girl's price range, $80 a night.....It is an incredible little place,
however, if anyone else is interested, and the food is out of this world.
But perhaps, Las Gardenas, would be better for them. It is close to the Malecon (2 or 3 blocks), clean rooms, and used to be quite reasonable. I don't
know what the prices are like now.
Anybody have any info on Las Gardenas?

Las Gardenas - last year's prices (likely the same) $40 per room one person; $45 per room 2 bed 2 person, tax included, free local calls - great place
which I also recommend.
