Cell Phone coverage in Mulege
We will be going to Mulege next week. I have heard that they now have a cell tower in Mulege. I understand that is good and bad. But I have a parent
that is not well and need to know if my cell phone will work for an emergency. So what stateside company will work and what type of phone-digital,GSM
or analog? Thanks!

Cingular works with tel cell and there are others also but you need to talk to your service provider before you come to get hooked up on the plan.
because of the geography of the aria service is spotty when you get out of town.

It's funny how
Sometimes, ones personality and traits shine right through an anonymous shield.
In this case, let's just call it anonycous. This here anonycous used to be on here (surprise) and in fact was helped by me on numerous occasions
meeting people regarding an alledged goal/investment that we all had heard about it wanting to make in Baja.
Unfortunately, everyone I introduced it too told me "this guy is full of chit", right off the bat!! Every single one of them! Including the
Mexicans!!!
The more times we met, the more I realized that my friends were correct. It pretends to be your friend but really just looking to find suckers who
will listen to their BS through people that live down here.
I see the same accent from some marooon who pretends to be my doctor who occasionally shows up on here.
I caught these people in an oughtright lie and called them on it so now, anonycous feels he needs to get back at me through occasional accusations/
predictions. And apparently at Bruce too.
Fact is, anonycous has lost respect from almost everyone he has come in contact with down here. That is because it doesn't tell the truth. It is
very opinionated, and won't last in Baja for very much longer because of dishonesty and meanness.
Fairly typical of most anonymous postings but vid an accent

I 've made alot of predictions in my life that didn't work out and unless your not human I know you have too.
I don't know what your problem is, but I think Jr has your number. Gotta be damn small to make a big deal out of this.

Is that so, or was that a hot air announcement of yours?
The tower is operating since several month.
Could you come up w/ the 290.000 Pesos Telcell is asking in advance for the store equipment ?????????????????
Or is the Telcell store operated by anyvody else ? |
why do you want to know no name.

Estralla,
When we were in Camalu a few months ago I had my cellphone in the car. Curious to see what would happen I turned my phone on and it found TelCel.
Didn't try to use it, but I understand that w/ Cingular you need a GSM phone, mine is a Motorola V551, and to activate w/Cingular before you go south.
I've also read about buying an "unlocked' phone with a SIM card and then getting a SIM card when you arrive. Not sure how that all works or if it
works at all.

mine works in hemossillo and guaymas but not in Nogales....go figure. it's supposed to work in loreto too but i have not been there recently. i sure
hope it works in mulege when they fix the height on that tower.

We are currently in the Mulege area...our cheapo TelCel phone we bought last year works great in Mulege area, but signal is spotty south beyond the
microwave tower hill...
We walked as far east on the beach at Playa los Naranjos and picked up enough signal to make a call. It must work fine when you are out on the Gulf
in the Mulege area, also...
There is rumor that they may add some heigth to the new tower to get better coverage...adding another antenna array up on the hill with the microwave
tower would give coverage all the way south on Bahia Concepcion...maybe later....
Weather is still in the 80s with light brreezes ' just about ideal...
Hasta la bye bye...

Frustrating!
I spend Saturday night in Mulege went to the Pig Roast at Serenidad Hotel. I have a Telcel phone from Loreto and cold not get a signal from
anywhere in or arond Mulege...and I tried very hard to find one. My american friends with cingular extended service had no trouble
and I used their phones to make calls from Serinadad Hotel. A friend of mine also with a Telcel phone from Ensenada could not get a signal.
Mulege was very nice though, cool air and very few mosquitos.
