CABO MAGIC Sportfishing Team Summary 09-15 October 2005

Hello Amigos,

Here is the CABO MAGIC Sportfishing Team Summary for the period 09-15 October 2005.

1 Blue Marlin
25 Striped Marlin
2 Pacific Sailfish
37 Yellowfin Tuna
156 Dorado
2 Wahoo
25 Roosterfish
1 Sierra
13 Boats had no suerte

We extend a warm & special welcome to Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico!

October is "Tournament Month" in Cabo San Lucas. Visitors in October are witness to an exciting time!

Team CABO MAGIC Sportfishing offers congratulations to all participants of the 7th Annual Los Cabos Billfish Tournament that took place this week. We await posting of official final results by Tournament Director Dan Jacobs.

Bisbees Offshore begins this coming Friday and is followed by the 25th Annual Bisbees Black & Blue Marlin Tournament - perhaps the most prestigious and famous worldwide.

Some of this weeks VIP Client highlights:

Amigos Brian and Kelley Stolze were finally able to take their trip to Cabo! Last year their home in Vero Beach, Florida suffered a one-two-punch of the storms & caused them to cancel their scheduled trip ... Two days of fishing with us with these 'worth the wait' results: 1 Blue Marlin + 1 Striped Marlin + 12 Dorado. They graciously gave two dorado to our crew in addition to their generous gratuity. That evening many locals were very thankful for their delicious meal and fresh fish.

New amigos the Cline Strickland Group of Weatherford, Texas fished three days. First day out they had no suerte but the second & third day combined totals of 3 Yellowfin Tuna and 9 Dorado were boated. Their tuna were in the 30# class and the dorado 35# class. Good catching and good eating!

Amigos Jim Black, John Johnson, and Steve Fimbrez of Modesto, California fished two days with us aboard "CABO MAGIC Dos" and released 1 Striped Marlin estimated at 200# which for a Striped Marlin is on the top of their size scale. They also boated 1 Dorado so good dinner too! Impressive overall!

Amigo Rick Miller from Powell Tennessee and his lovely wife Mary, along with Robert & Jackie and Frank and Mary fished four days with us. Fishin' was great, but the catchin' well ... First day out they were skunked, second day they released 1 Pacific Sailfish, third no suerte and on day four caught 8 Dorado.

Always a treat to welcome Amigos and VIP Clients Russ and Sandra Long aboard. Three days fishing on "CABO MAGIC" they released 3 Striped Marlin and boated 5 Dorado and 1 Yellowfin Tuna. Thanks once again for the pleasure and privilege ....

First time visitors and new amigos The Ardi Villiard Family - Ardi, Miriam, Hurley and Lamara - of Poulsbro, Washington fished with us and can tell great stories now of fighting a Striped Marlin and boating 8 Dorado. Congratulations!

Delighted to welcome aboard new amigos Mike & Deanna Mack and their friends Ronald Mafrici, Steve Spina and James Roberts. Visiting from Half Moon Bay, California this group of fun-lovers fished two days with us and released 2 Striped Marlin and boated 3 Dorado and 4 Yellowfin Tuna. We did not need to tell these folks to bring "suerte" (spanish for "luck") as they had it goin' on! Thanks Deanna for your email proudly posted on our website in Client Letters. Photos welcome ....

Amigo Caleb Lawson and friends of Houston, Texas fishing aboard CABO MAGIC landed a 90# Wahoo - Thats a really nice size 'hoo' .. Hoping for photos ~ ~ They also boated a Yellowfin Tuna. Beats a day in the office by a large margin!

Fishing with us aboard "ADRENALINE" new Amigos and Amigas Dennis & Bonnie Siclari, Joseph & Rita Stazzone and Richard & Joan Delmar caught a wahoo ... They are from Somerset, New Jersey and came to town aboard the Celebrity Cruise Ship "Summit".

Also visiting aboard the Celebrity Cruise line, we welcomed Dr Robert Woods of Mid South Cardiology, Lebanon, Tennessee aboard and he boated 2 Dorado.

Biggest Yellowfin Tuna of the week caught by Amigo Tom Broderick ~ ~ The 150# fish was boated along with 2 Dorado in his first of two days fishing with friends. Next week we will post the report for K&B Electric of Santa Ana, California ... so please stay tuned!

Dan Giesler and Steve Morgan, amigos of Missouri City, Texas boated 5 Dorado.

Visiting from Rohnert Park, California amigo William Fuiten boated 1 Yellowfin Tuna.

Boating 1 Dorado and nursing hangovers with us new amigo John Oates and friends of Austin, Texas ...

Amigo Jim Johnson of Gulf Stream, Florida and friends fished Friday and boated 4 Dorado as well as releasing 1 Striped Marlin. They are fishing today (Sunday) so next weeks report will post their tally.

It was real nice to welcome back Amigo Bee Linzey and friends from Ocean View, Marylan. Bee and his 2004 Roosterfish can be seen on our Clients Photo page. This week the group fished three days and here is their tally: 6 Dorado + 1 Striped Marlin + 1 Roosterfish - several more roosterfish won the game of tug ~ ~ we await your trip photos!

Visitors from Brentwood, California and new amigos the McElvain Family - Bert, Ila, Dylan and Brock - caught 8 dorado fishing with us aboard "CABO MAGIC Dos".

Calling Rocklin, California home, Amigo Gary Menefee of Northstate Construction, fished with us aboard "CABO MAGIC". He and his group boated 2 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Dorado.

Tearin' it up from Hoboken, New Jersey amigo John Krusas fished with us aboard "CABO MAGIC" with friends and boated 5 Dorado! They also had a great time in town and especially at Cabo Wabo listening to Sammy Haggar do his thing too! Glad to add you to our list of amigos John ...

Amigo Mike Fair, one "Pirate of the Caribbean" fished two days with us this trip - in between fun and frivolity - Aboard "ADRENALINE" he released 1 Striped Marlin and aboard "IVONNE" he boated 1 Dorado "Stoked" with a good dinner!

Taking a break from horse breeding, fireworks, and offroad racing, bueno amigo Greg Hilton and his great group of fishermen returned to fish with us for four days. In their first day on Saturday Team Hilton released 1 Striped Marlin + boated 1 Yellowfin Tuna + 4 Dorado. More results to come next week!

Here you go... also, the town Cabo San Lucas was just called San Lucas back then (Cabo was the point/cape)... A fish cannery and pier were where the harbor entrance is now. The harbor was a salt flat area used as an airplane runway. The only hotel was the Hacienda... We hired the panga off the beach near the Hacienda... see next photo...

Here we go!

My dad loved fishing, had some great reels and equipment...

He also flew into Loreto with Ed Tabor (Flying Sportsman Lodge) in the mid 60's...

He bought a Jeep Wagoneer in '65 because he heard Gonzaga Bay was THE place, and you could only get there in a 4WD... (my first Baja experience, on the second Gonzaga trip that year!)

Really neat pics David!! You must have a whole room for them! Who was the "skipper" or "capitano" in the first picture at Cabo? BTW, have you checked out Juanitas website lately? Lots of exciting things going on with the Bisbees merger!Should be a fun filled tournament for all! Take care, Sally

Hi Sally, thanks (you too P.)... I do have a few photos, wish I had more!

I was 8 years old that first trip to the tip... Don't remember his name...

In '73 (15 yrs. old) we drove the Baja road again to BC Sur, before the highway was finished (in a 2WD station wagon) and we went to Loreto... fished with Ramon Villalejo out of Juncalito.

Yeah good ol Ramon... what a wonderful man he was. RIP Dear Ramon:( What great memories I have with him as our first Baja fishing guide. That man knew so much and lived such a simple life. I have some photos of him in the early 80's but have no idea how to post them.A few were taken on Isla Carmen in his Panga with Juanita(then a small child!) holding a nice Dorado. He was like family to us.. He is missed. Thanks, Sally
