Old Baja Photos, 1918
The original mill at Bahia de San Quintin... This was still standing when I was first there in 1966, but not quite as complete as shown. Note the
steam boat in the bay.
Photo from David Goldbaum's 1918 report on the towns of Baja California.

Santa Catarina Landing
Before roads were built from to El Marmol suitable for cargo trucks (about 1940's?), onyx blocks were shipped out from this point on Baja's Pacific
coast to San Diego's Southwest Onyx and Marble Company.

What was the mill for.
Strive For The Ideal, But Deal With What\'s Real.
Every day is a new day, better than the day before.(from some song)
Lord, Keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.
“The sincere pursuit of truth requires you to entertain the possibility that everything you believe to be true may in fact be false”

Making flour from the wheat grown in the area by the English colonists... A railroad was also begun from the mill northward some 20 miles before the
whole project crashed... NO RAIN to grow wheat...

Bob, great translation! But I also saw there 'Calm days, terrific fishing'. Look closely, you can see it at the very end!

OK I'm back home in Baja
The caption reads:
"View looking north across San Felipe Bay. Good water is found a few feet below the surface on a flat back of shore. (Photagraph from David
Goldblum."
