More Old Baja Photos (1972-1979)
I went through my album and pulled some more photos and scanned them last night to share with you all...
This one was taken in Oct. 1972 on our first trip up the new road to the San Pedro Martir observatory.... If you can make it out, Diablo mountain is
just right of me (I was 15) up in the pine forest of Baja.

In July, 1973 we were under the impression that the Baja highway was almost completed... So, without hesitation, my dad used his new 2WD Ford LTD
station wagon for our summer trip.
Here we are in the Laguna Chapala valley... with its infamous dust bowl (moon dust, Baja dust, talc powder)!
I am taking the photo on the roadbed for the new highway and my dad is on the detour road because a bridge is not yet built...

I congratulate my dad on getting us through the dust bowl of Chapala! (I am wearing a Dick Cepek Baja Proven shirt, 30 years later I met the
cartoonist who created Dick's logo, Dave Deal)

Camping across from San Fernando mission
Easter vacation in 1975 had me doing a repeat trip with another school friend, Mike Clancy, and two other vehicles joined us (Ford 4WD truck and a
Baja Bug)... we went to El Marmol, La Turquesa canyon, Gonzaga, and San Felipe making a big loop trip...

Thanks for sharing.
Sometime I need to go through my dad's old slides (He has tons going back to the 40's and maybe earlier) and see if I can scan them.
As some are unlabeled, we could play "Where is (was) this?"

In Oct. 1979, I preran the Baja 1000 course with my Subaru, over the first section I was going to be driving in the race (San Matias Pass to San
Felipe, to Gonzaga, to El Crucero on Mex. 1). Here is my Subaru 4WD in Calamajue canyon...

Great stuff David Thanks
Taco de Baja - would like to see some of your dad's stuff too
Remember you mentioning your dad and you at Parral Ranch west of Valle Chico - Pictures of there, back then would be great.

So cool David! Ramons' fathers' name was Cruz,BTW,as my Dad and I were just talking about him the other day.He was very old when I met him and passed
away a few years after. His wife, Elotia, had fifteen children with him (Ramon) and survived several years after the passing of Cruz. WOW!
Happiness is just a Baja memory away...
