What about parking in the unfinished building where there is a guard charging $2.00?
People keep saying that Baja is as safe from crime as the U.S., but I don't think I know anywhere in the U.S. where thievery is as sure to happen as
in TJ and parts of Ensenada. Maybe Compton? But I think even Compton is safer during the daytime.

Actually, I was serious. I normally visit the fish market whenever I'm in Ensenada and, in the past, I've always parked on the street by the flag
plaza.
I've never had a problem parking there. Of course I never leave stuff in the car (except the trunk) to tempt the crooks, but I've been hearing about
cars being broken into even there. So I was hoping that there was a guarded parking lot or structure close by where my car would be safer.
Where is this unfinished building? And has anyone been ripped off there?

The broken windows almost always cost more than the stuff being stolen. Some jerk (for fun) broke the back window with a rock on my 2004 Taurus it
cost $1100 to replace! The local Novis here told me they had had 15 incidents in that same week.
I always (if possible) leave everything in the trunk, seems it might be a better idea to leave the rig unlocked (let them take the change in the
consol.

I first went to Ensenada in 1959 (age 14) with my father and his friends. We parked in front of a Bar to stop for a drink. A little kid came over
and offered to "guard" our vehicle while we were inside. The friend (who had a casa in Ensenada paid him). When my Dad remarked "what good can a
little kid do if someone messes with your car" ?, the friend replied "If I don't pay him, there's something guaranteed to happen to my car".
