Hola Jose! I remember sending some to you... Welcome to Baja Nomad!

The La Bocana by Puerto Santo Tomas, just south of Ensenada... 10-4!

Now, some good Nomads can help... I am familiar with the next La Bocana as you continue south (near El Rosario)... Here is that one's beach (beautiful eh?)

Hi Bajacat

My wife and I camped there in February, it's a nice place, had a great time and even saw some passing gray whales. There are no sandy beaches, just rocks but it's great for the kids to explore and find starfish and other creatures.

Camping was free but we had trouble when looking for the "restroom". lol
There are some cabins there and they are not too expensive, they even have a kitchen. We like camping though.
It'll be cold at night so be prepared.

That would be the La Bocana near Punta Abreojos, I think...

See my reply to your other post

And note -- there is a big, sandy beach, not just rocks, at La Bocana de Santo Tomas (BCN). Omar is correct, however, that it gets cold at night. In fact, when the fogs drops in and the wind picks up out of the north, it's like frickin' Big Sur.

The first site of the Santo Tomas mission, located along the road to La Bocana...

The second site of the mission, located just east of Mex. 1 as you enter town from the north (note group of palms)...

Part of the San Vicente Ferrer mission ruins, being preserved...

DanO, I have not been to it... but if you have a GPS, the waypoint is in my vivabaja.com/bajamissions page... It is in a park or playground area, and about 3 miles down the valley. Jack Swords took the photo. Maybe I will check it out Friday??
