RENTAL CARS TO BAJA?
Can anyone offer information about renting a car in USA to drive to San Jose and back? Also, is it possible to rent a car in USA drive it to San
Jose, drop it off, and fly home?
Any info will be appriciated. This is for a friend, I have my own ride.
Thanks

YES!
One of the better known agencies is California-Baja Rent a car. They are in San Diego County. I believe Dollar also allows rentals into Baja.

Where would you start from in the USA? Dollar and Enterprise (at least, plus local companies) at border locations (such as San Diego and Yuma) will
allow travel in Mexico, normally costs $25/day extra for the insurance and you have to buy insurance for the right number of days before you leave the
US.
Renting a car at some other Dollar locations (e.g. SF Bay Area) you can maybe drive into Mexico (check) but you have to get the same insurance at
their border locations. The big companies expect you to bring it back, no one-way to baja. They do have the advantage (Dollar anyway) of unlimited
mileage.

Thanks, great info. This person wants to leave from SD and drop the car in San Jose. Than fly home. Have you heard of anyone who has done that
before. I will tell him to try those two locations David K suggested.
Thanks again.
Its good to be poor and have a car you don't mind driving in to Baja & have the time to do it.
