BOC revisited

Found myself "over there" again. Extremely serene and less windy than the west shore.
Anyhoo, this is a very common shore typical on the eastern shores of the Bay of Conception, sweeping pebble beaches go on for miles.

This next image looking south shows the gentle slope up from the shore.

The landscape changes as you head for the point. Fun driving on the beach...which is the road in places.

The road is narrow and lined with serious brush in areas. Pinstripping!
AS you near the point the road veers east and up and over to the other side. This is the view upon arrival.

The rock is composed of sculpted sandstone embedded with a multitude of colorful round stones.

You can vaguely see the remains of a mining operation. You will see many concrete slabs where homes once stood.

A fun trip off-road

This trip requires 4X4 but is all but difficult. Take some communication with you as it is very desolate. Also plan on spending at least one night. It is doable in one day out and back but for sure would short-change the visitor. Say good-bye to your paint job. This is another "made by jeep" track.

Sharks...

...next time you're going over that way, hit me up for some waypoints of the small canyon with the rock paintings...there are many small paintings there, and the more you look the more you can find.

The wash going up into the canyon is actually shown in the Baja Almanac's page 37, as 'Los Pintados' (about P-5) and next to a fishing camp that's marked 'Margarita'.

I've been told that many native artifacts have been found in the area over the years, arrowheads, pottery shards, etc.

I love to hike up into those mountains some day...but that's some 'rugged' country! Keep an eye out for Snakes of the 'Rattle' variety over there...

Great pictures...love that whole area!

According to my clock...anytime is \'BAJA TIME\' & as Jimmy Buffett says,
\"It doesn\'t use numbers or moving hands It always just says now...\"

That is awesome . Yep, heard about stuff up in those moutains. It seems they are little explored. Just right!
Went up to the ranch. They have a large elevated water tank in a nice spot1 The only water supposedly but I'll bet there are other sources considering the size of the range.

Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!!

The only thing I can say is that I don't share all my experiences in Baja and I generalize a lot.
On both my trips out there I saw nobody past the first fish camp and that is only a few kms from the start. The road is narrow and I'd love to see a trailer out there!:lol:Hardly a freeway. I also noticed only a few sideroads leading up washes.
When I did a search here I found very little posted. On top of that when I looked at my thread from last year I found my photos somehow got purged from my site. :?:
Everyone knows you are the expert on the BOC and a great story teller too.. Tell us more.
But really Pompano I'd rather see some photos from your recent visits over there not those recycled ones. Forget the memory stick?
;D
