DIRECWAY problemas

Anyone on Direcway service Satmex 5 having problems with slow speed (both ways) or computer crashing for no apparent reason?

My computer crashes when I'm connected on the Direcway but this same laptop doesn't have this problem when connected at my other location on Prodigy's DSL. So I kow its not the computer but the connection. I also know its not my antivirus (but won't get into that).

Wondering if anyone out there having the same problem. The slowness has gotten so bad that I cannot upload any files via FTP where I used to bea ble to without difficulty. Also downloading has really slowed down.

My transmit signal if 90+% and my Recieve signal is in the 80 %ile.

If this doesn't improve soon I'll cancel the thing.

I'm really happy with Prodigy's DSL we had our first outage last week it lasted about 8 hours, other than that it is really good, cheep, and fast.

Pam, I using my Direcway satellite Internet hookup daily with no problems and experience the same signal strength as I originally noted 4 years ago. 50 odd air miles from here to your dish should not make that much difference. Could something or someone have bumped your dish and/or support.... or have you had a extremely high wind?

I also know that Prodigy DSL has been having some bad problems during the last few days.

Sr. Hector Cunningham down your way may be of help. He was quite helpful to us in our initial set-up.

isn't there a diagnostic check you can run to check the system?

There has been very severe weather near Germantown PA the last few days. When this happens the signal, regardless of strength, just cannot get thru the snow/rain or whatever there is there.
It will recover when the weather passes by.

The weather problem at Germantown is causing the slow download/upload speeds.

My computer crashes when I'm connected on the Direcway but this same laptop doesn't have this problem when connected at my other location on Prodigy's DSL. So I kow its not the computer but the connection. I also know its not my antivirus (but won't get into that).

Check to see that all connections are good and tight.

Wondering if anyone out there having the same problem. The slowness has gotten so bad that I cannot upload any files via FTP where I used to bea ble to without difficulty. Also downloading has really slowed down.

There is no diagnostic other than to check connection. The system is very reliable but the weather is an unforeseen problem. Just have faith in the sytem.

My transmit signal if 90+% and my Recieve signal is in the 80 %ile.

If this doesn't improve soon I'll cancel the thing.
