Baja California getting increasingly popular with Florida boaters

Two boats carrying yachts, from Fort Lauderdale, have already unloaded, this year, in Ensenada, Baja California, which is becoming increasingly popular with American yachtsmen.

According to Port Director, Carlos J?uregui, there is interest in a Mexican mooring, from across the yachting spectrum, and the vessels were carrying a wide variety of craft, from small sports boats, to large luxury cruisers.

Last year, a total of eight transport vessels delivered American owned yachts to Baja California ports and this year the number is expected to be even higher. J?uregui says that some owners are simply attracted by the opportunity to cruise a new and less crowded area, others are immediately seeking Mexican yards for repair and refit work, at a price that is considerable less than in Florida.
