What Happened to 1X

7X (Bell) is listed as the winner on the Off Road web site and 1X is not even listed as a finisher. Yesterday while following the coverage on the web it had 1X and 7X at the finish line. Maybe 1X disqualified???

I just got this from a friend.

American Honda?s Robby Bell, Murrieta, Calif./Kendall Norman, Santa Barbara, Calif., won the Class 22 and overall motorcycle title on their four-stroke Honda CRF450X when apparent winners Steve Hengeveld, Oak Hills, Calif./Mike Childress, Wrightwood, Calif., the other factory Honda team, were disqualified after the race by SCORE officials for deviating from the course. The Bell/Norman team covered the course in 4:19:36, averaging 55.55mph.

While listening to "Weatherman" heard someone in the background saying "they had to go talk to the Honda people". This was well after the frist two MC's finished.

Guess they are paying attention to the loggers.

Sounds like they really are serious about staying on the course.

(from offroad.com)

Besides Hengeveld/Childress, three other entries received sanctions from SCORE officials following the race. Unofficial finishers Danny Prather in Class 25 and J. David Ruvalcaba in Class 30 were disqualified for deviations from the course while David McCarroll was penalized one position (from first to second) in Sportsman ATV for driving backwards through a checkpoint.

While not trying to say bad things about the honda 450 ,i wonder how many engines they changed , those engines only hold a quart of oil, and i know they don,t last long on long trails but i guess they last long enought to finish

I'm really surprised the Honda B team ran a CRF450 instead of a XR650. I know San Felipe is a rough course but it also got a lot of sand. But then again maybe better handling was needed.

at the dump EVERY bike-quad-trophy-class1 etc that i saw(about 200 entries) veered right at the Y.......... except for the 1X honda! Im not sure if this was where they got off the course enough to set off the tracking device, but it was quite obvious that he "knew" where he has going.

Tom, I forgot about the tracking device. That brings in a whole new era to Score racing.

I got this from a friend of Mike Childress after talking to him.

At RM 12 the right turn off the power line road he cut the corner in the dust by 190 feet.
Paul (Fish) was in the Helo spotted him
Saved possibly 3-4 seconds..in the dust possibly none.
SCORE notified him they were DQed 20 minutes before the awards.
After checking the line later it was a burned in line ,car, bikes quads.
The line had a two foot berm.
His feeling is they were made a example of after Dust to Glory.
Paul DQed him..Sal would not discuss it.
Witness said over 100 cars and bikes took the same line.

They reviewed Mikes box...he said it was dead on accurate as to his line.
