Importing batteries

I am looking into purchasing new batteries for my solar system again:rolleyes:. In hopes of actually installing the batteries, I am looking for information on how to import them legally (ie. without being confiscated.) I am thinking that it may be easier if they could be shipped to either my Baja house or to Santa Rosalia.

Has anyone had large items shipped from a company in the US or Canada to Baja? How was the experience, any surprises?

Importing Batteries

I've always brought down my own batteries so I don't know about having them shipped directly into Mexico, but I once brought down and declared (12) "Golf-Cart" RV batts, showed the invoice, paid the duty and went on my way. No problem.

You can buy them right in Baja and the company will arrange to ship them to your destination....

I have already tried the small battery route. My system is a bit large to be using golf car batteries or even the L16s. I am actually planning on getting the Rolls/Surette 8CS25PS 8v 820ah 425lb batteries. I am not sure that I could declare these as the first time I bought them I was a bit over $6,000.

We use Import Export. They tack on about 27% to import them legally and ship them to Cabo for us. You can also get away with giving them an invoice that is about 30% less than what you paid....any less and they will call you on it.

Mike: that would really help. If you let me know how much it costs for the best they got I can shoot the money over. I can arrange for someone to meet you at the Guaymas airport for the pickup.

Haven't been to San Carlos for over 10 years and decided against it last year when a buddy informed me that most homes there fly the rainbow flag.
True?
Like I said I haven't been there for ages...
