R.I.P. Rocky the Nomad dog..
Sad day for La Familia Tierra... :.(.....
Our dear friend and Baja companion "Rocky" was put down after 13 years as part of our family..
The super protector of camp and truck will be missed..I guess I can expect to be pulled aside at all the checkpoints now...

So sorry. That is a tough thing to have to do. He looks kinda like our Toby. Maybe they can play together up there in doggy heaven. I know for a
fact that all dogs go to heaven
Next trip down maybe think about rescuing a Mexican dog to take back home with you. They have really streamlined the process in most areas and I can
vouch for the fact that they make very loyal pets....just ask my Caligas guy.

Mexican shorthair
thank you Judy..Yes they are probably squabling over the tennis ball right now..
we do have a mexican rescue dog.. she is great!! La Pinta.
She came from the east cape at Las Distiladeras, a surf spot..
She was the runt of three pups from a local dog called "Jueso" (sp) she was so cute we had to bring her home..we did not declare her at the border..
people always ask "what kind of dog is that?" ..I say she is a Mexican shorthair pointer..She is the big one in the Photo..Littlr Diego Rico is the
neighbor dog

It was around '97 when we got Pinta.. she was next to the well at distiladeras with her mommy and sisters..she had cactus spines all over her muzzle
and her mom wasn't letting her nurse.. her sisiters were twice her size..we figured she was doomed if we didn't help...
whats happening at distiladers now?? when i was last there in 98 or so some guy had subdivided and was selling lots for about 20K (I shoulda bought
one!)

What a beautiful dog. I am hoping to go before Toby does. I'm not sure I could stand putting him down.

Condonlences on the loss of your family member
This has been posted before, it comforted me.
The Rainbow Bridge Story
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to
Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our
friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made
whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and time gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body
quivers. Suddenly he begins to break from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and
when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from
your heart.
THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER....

I lost my dog this past year. A cop was speeding down our street and hit her. She kept getting out that day to play with my 5 year old son. I don't
think anything has ever made me sadder, but we got a new pup, and she is about maybe 1/4 as good as Taco Bell in the picture below.
