Homologaci?n

It has nothing to do with gender or orientation. This is the term the papers use in reference to Pemex "equalizing" the gas prices along the border to match U.S. prices. I'm sure there are other uses, but so far that's the only context I've seen it in.

Oso....I don't want to know that word. I have close friends who are mathematics professors from the Bay area. Pick another.

There is a perfectly serious, if not too common, given name in Mexico; Homogonio. The first time I heard this was in court where I was translating for a witness by that name. I had a hard time maintainining the proper decorum.

Registering "something" with a government agency would be homologacion, right? Like a car, for example?

Could be. Larousse says it's "homologation"(big help) or "confirmation" and Webster says to homologate is to sanction, allow, approve or confirm officially.

Anybody remember GRAMMATIK? I once ran a document with "Homo Sapiens" in it through a spellcheck with that software and it told me not to use derogatory terms.
