Accident at Km 49?

Does anyone have any info concerning an accident on Sunday evening at about Km 49 south of San Felipe? What little I know it sounded like it might be kinda serious accident? Will try to get more today on it.

What I heard is that it happened Sunday, sometime between 8:00-9:00 pm and that there was one DOA involved. This came to me second hand by someone who heard it on the radio.

The accident occurred near Campo Coloradito - 3/4 of the way to Puertecitos, around 8:30. Young people travelling in a Escalade SUV rounded a curve at high speed. Two young men, one 18 and one 19 were killed. Their bodies were taken to the U.S. quite quickly, after Federal Police arrived and did their investigation.

The driver, a young woman, who had been drinking was severely injured and after local treatment was removed to a Mexicali Hospital by the Federal Police and may be prosecuted for manslaughter. The other passengers were extremely fortunate with only scratches.

It is sad to hear this. :( It is too bad too many people leave their brains at the border.

Brains Left Behind ?

The number of Alcohol-Related Auto Fatalities NORTH of the Border each year would indicate that the Brain is still in place South of the Border. It just isn't working well.

The border has nothing to do with it. We just had a kid on a bullet bike killed when he passed a car on the right doing over 100 mph. He didn't see the parked semi trailer because it was dark.

Correction on the two who died. I heard "two muchachos", however, one was male and one was female. They were the fatalities. The driver is physically OK in Mexicali, but, she is now being held on 2 counts of Vehicular Manslaughter. Her life changed forever -- theirs no more!

Sadly, there were 3 gals and 3 guys. The guys met the girls the night before in the Miramar in San Felipe. Neighbors saw them all at Chelo's Cafe Sun. morning in the Poblado Delicias, and even talked to one of the gals -- what a shock when we all found out Sun., night -- just seeing or knowing of them brings it so much closer to home.

S.F. is absolutely crazy at the moment -- can't get through the streets, the bikes cutting off big cars and trucks in traffic, not so nice gestures if anyone says anything -- perhaps there should be postings of Sun. night's results of fast driving and drinking -- but I think "it could never happen to me" will prevail.
