Hepatitis A shot in Cabo San Lucas

Hi, Does anyone know a clinic in Cabo San Lucas where I could pay for a Hepatitis A vaccine? As I was unable to get one prior to my trip so I will be looking for a clinic in Cabo that could provide the service. Any other information regarding costs and such would also be appreciated if someone has that info. Thanks!

Ameri-Med Hospital & Clinic in on the main drag, Lazaro Card##as. It is on the left before you get to McDonalds & the marina. The only thing negative I have heard about them did not pertain to the quality of care, rather their "billing" of Americans in emergency situations.

Just walking in and getting a shot should not be a problem.

Hep A, you say?

Are there particular immunizations that are recommended to get, or update? My kids are still grade school, so they are probably ok, and they got Hep A shots when we first took them down 8 years ago--are these good for life, or do we need boosters? :?:

We've never gotten anything special for Baja.
Our kids have been going down since before they were 2.

If you are concerned, I would check with your doctor, not this bunch of older kids.

If I were going to do that, I would go to the Walk-in Clinic in San Jose...just before Trader Dick's coming from San lucas. The main reason is that I would trust Dr J. to tell me if I really needed the shot. 044-624-147-5881 That is his cell number for a quick answer!

The package insert does recommend a booster shot for Heptavax (Hep A vaccine) one year from the initial dose. Our doc insisted that it wasn't necessary so we only got the initial vaccine 5 years ago.

I had Hep A titers (blood test to check for presence of antibodies to the virus) done last month and it showed that I was still positive for Hep A antibodies so one vaccine was enough in my case.

Probably different booster criteria applies to kids though Tippytoes.

Along with ruining a good trip, Hepatitis can predispose you to Liver Cancer and the shot is a pretty "painless" way to protect yourself.

Thanks Judy & bunch: we did get the 2nd set for the kids, so we'll probably be ok--just wanted to make sure rules hadn't changed--sure hope we can meet some of you folks this summer while in Loreto, or travelling down. Maybe we can get one of those Nomad bumper stickers and y'all can recognize us. Ford F350 Diesel w/(we hope to find!) a camper shell, extra cab, long bed - two young kids!
