Satellite Radio
Can you receive a Canadian subscribed Sirius or XM satellite radio signal in Cabo San Lucas? I know that you can receive US subscribed signals for
both Sirius and XM but I have never seen anything mentioned about Canadian subscriptions. This last year is the first year that Canadian subscriptions
have been readily available. I'm hoping someone has tried one in the Baja this season because I'm pretty well fed up with only shortwave.

Jack, I don't have Sirius but plan on having it before our next trip. While on the beach, we had a choice of stations, as two other rigs nearby,
Canadian, let their signals out on FM to be readily picked up. I am 99% sure they could get CDN content, including CBC. Unfortunately, their choice of
music was quite a bit removed from our own.
I am not aware of XM offering Canadian content, although they could do.
Even without the CDN, which I think reaches where we go, I'm planning on bringing it along. I agree that shortwave, for the information I want, is
dreadfully deficient, with RCI chiefly the one racing to the bottom; I'd wanted better from them (using our tax dollars for funding). As an example, I
recall that often the RCI announcer would give the up to the minute score of a hockey game in, say, the second period - a useless piece of info when
he could have given the finals of the previous day's action. Then they'd go off the air until the next day.

Both XM and Sirius have set up Canadian subscriptions and content this past year. They both have had US subscriptions and content for about the last 3
years I believe. This last Christmas advertising blitz was full of satellite radio adds. I e-mailed both companies to ask if their Canadian
subscribers could pick up signals in Mexico. Only one returned my e-mail and said they could only guarantee all of Canada. I expected that reply
because it is the same reply given by both Canadian satellite TV companies (and we know that both of their signals can be received in Baja). The only
way to find out for sure is to ask people on forums like this one.
Now thanks to jim janet we know that Sirius will work in Cabo.

It works in Todos Santos and there is Canadian programming, at least, the PRI channel is on with "As it Happens" and others. I don't think Sirius is
to the point where they are able to offer different programming in different parts of their coverage area.
