Anyone up for Cantamar/Lobster Village on May 6th?

John Vera is moving to Hawai'i for 3 years where he will be stationed in the US Marines. I decided to throw a party for the guy, and so we're gonna 'wheel our Jeeps on the sand dunes of Cantamar on Saturday May 6th from noon until around 4 p.m. Afterwards, we'll be heading to Lobster Village for dinner at Ortega's from 5 p.m. until around 8 p.m.

Since I'm throwing the party for John, I'm also covering his dinner expenses. If anyone who comes is interested in donating $3 towards his dinner, to help feed a soldier, they're more than welcome.

John Vera has participated in Pole Line Run #2 and #4, and he has a nice, built Jeep LJ. I'll include a few pics for people to see.

Nice gesture Ken... how about an address where those who can't make it, could still contribute to this marine's day of fun before going back to duty?

Thanks Ken, my donation (and a sticker) on its way. I hope he has a great meal and you all have a fun day four wheeling!

Did you realize that that is the date of the Pyramid Resort's booksigning event??? That is just a few miles south of Cantamar!!!

Hi Ken

I thought I would personally invite you and your group to join us for Pyramid Resort's Booksigning and Wine tasting. We will have 14 Authors and 3 great wineries, Lot's of Nomads will be here also . I'm sure your young Marine would love to meet some true Baja people and we would love to thank him for all is is doing for us and give him a great send off. I'm sure we could take up a collection here to pay for all his dinner and drinks. He may like to take some of our books with him to remind him of Baja while he is away. Perhaps around 3:00 with your lungs filled with sand a glass of wine or a cold beer will sound real inviting . You can come sit on our beautiful deck overlooking the blue Pacific and make the rest of the folks jealous with your tall tales of the day, We are only 6 miles from Cantamar. Hope to see you there,k:yes::bounce::yes:

This is beginning to sound like an offer we cannot refuse! :tumble::yes:

We will certainly pencil this event into our afternoon agenda. John Vera will be proud to attend and this will be a great sendoff for the guy.

Honey added to the pot! Drag him by my table and he will walk away with both of my books and my thanks. I'm sure most of the other authors will do the same.

John just received this news today, and he felt speechless. He plans to attend with his son, Paige. His best friend Juan who is also a currently serving US Marine will also be there with his wife who will be visiting from their home in Salinas, CA. Thanks again, Bernie. These guys are real excited about the trip - especially your gratitude.

Ken/John

I have been sending my books, cards, and a bunch of other stuff to Iraq for our heros for a long time. I also contribute to Save our American Heros because that is the least I can do.
I would be honored to grab and hug one of these guys before he he heads out. My privilege big time!

See you there. I even got some other collectible books that will go to the guy---Sorry they were going to be door prices, but this is far more important.

It was a great run, and a great day overall. John Vera said that he will really miss such a great place that he was just getting to know! :(

Everyone will miss John and his family. Here are a few photos from our going away trip for him...
