Desert Vehicles on Display in San Diego

http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/20060511-9999-lz1s11pit...

Off-road racing and desert vehicles are the focus of a display now open at the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park.

The display ranges from the earliest VW buggy conversions to the prototype Toyota pickup truck that Ivan Stewart drove to dominate such events as the Baja 1000 and Baja 500 races in the 1980s and 1990s.

Also on display are an open-class buggy driven by the late Corky McMillin in the Baja 1000 as well as specialized desert motorcycles.

The display is open through July 24.
