Malecon statue
Does anyone know the name of this statue, located on the Malecon in La Paz? Or the name of the artist? There is a small version of it located on the
outsidce wall of the cathedral by the plaza in town. I am looking for a quality reproduction. Any ideas?

I think there is a plaque on the Malecon statue telling about it, but I can't remember the info. It is a lovely statue.

Did you get any answers? I asked around town a couple of years ago with no results. I did find an artist who said he would do a "knock-off" in gold
or silver. You don't want to know the price.

Wasnt trying to ignore you Mari, I just got lost in my little malecon world. I agree with Paula, there is a plaque but also dont remember what it
said. I think that it is Jesus holding a conch shell.

As I recall, Judy, that first statue is titled Reina del Mar. There is also another statue with that title. But the one you ask about represents a
priest... always thought it was a woman until someone pointed out to me that 'she' has a full beard.
Here's a close up of that statue of the open book:
Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.

More on the Statue
Here is a picture I found. Nice shot. It seems that the word/name "Mena" appears on the skirt. Maybe the name of the artist. I hve not found
anything on-line running that name. Anyone heard of it before?

The artist for this sculpture is Guillermo Gomez Macias and you can see his picture and read more about him here:

I don't have a guess where, Judy, but the picture is wonderful. It has a similar feeling to some of my pictures of Butte, Montana.
