Sunday Brunch at La Fondas
A small group of us had brunch yesterday at La Fonda. (Oh, what a beautiful day it was) I must say that the selection of food and the way it all was
prepared and presented was simply outstanding. I cannot say enough about how much the service has improved. We never had to ask for more bloody
mary's - they just kept them coming until we held our hand out with the "stop" motion. Every time I got up to get another plate, when I returned my
former plate was gone and the area cleaned. They brought us our bill and everything was in order.
Of special note: The Albondigas meatball soup was to DIE FOR! Don't miss it!
$13.95 includes the buffet and all the b-mary's you can consume (and they are not skimping on those AT ALL!)

Glad to hear they're on track. Regardless of the ownership and all the words flying around regarding La Fonda over the last few years it still is an
old established place with a history many of us grew up with. Glad to hear you had the best of it all. Hope to see you guys soon.

Speaking of La Fonda, my husband and I were there on Friday night. We went late, and the only thing I was in the mood for was Quail, which I love
there, but didn't see on the menu. So we asked if they had it. Well, they said yes--I guess they had some, but not enough to put it on the menu,
maybe. My husband and I shared an order, since it was almost 10:00 pm by the time we sat down, and they didn't hassle us at all about splitting a
meal. They brought us both soup and salads, and three quail each,with mashed potatoes, and a wonderful cranberry sauce! The quail were grilled, and to
die for! I think it's the best thing on the menu. BTW, you can still get lobster there, but it's not local now, of course. It is much better than in
Puerto Nuevo though, though not as good as at Medio Camino.

Lunch guests...
We had a lovely lunch there about 2 weeks ago. A really nice tough on that rather chilly day was all the chairs had a Mexican blanket on them so you
could snuggle in. The food was great and plentiful! Think we got a couple, three meals out of an order of Chili Verde. We had some unusual lunch
guests that day, Mr. Rooster and Mrs. Hen, both of whom were happy that we shared some tortilla chips with them .
Friends don't let friends drink white zinfandel.

The mexican blankets folded on the back of the chairs are a very nice touch indeed. The chickens have been roaming there for years. I was looking
for them but didn't see them this last visit. This place, with the improvements in service, is not to be missed, especially on the Sunday Brunch day.
The food selection is fantastic and has also improved in quality my opinion. There was a HUGE vat of paella among the large selection that was also
outstanding.

Both birds were "nice" -- I had a rooster once that would run after me every time I went into the yard!

That rooster thought you were gonna steal her girlfriend(s)!
When I was a little kid, I visited my great grandmother up in North Carolina. She still had a chicken coop where they would gather their eggs for
breakfast every morning. Well, they sent me out there (city-boy from Miami) to gather the morning's eggs and that rooster out there scared me to
death, chasing me all over the coop. Everyone in the family got a big laugh out of it. In the mean time, someone else had to get the eggs as I
refused to go back in there!

Matt, what did you order and how was it? |
My pops and I both ordered the Combinacion Mexicana. It was very tasty. Got mine with a cup of soup, pops had a salad. I had my usual 'sangre maria
ceaser' clamato bloody mary herradura reposado the old man maggie rocas con sal.
The paraglider buzzed the joint and my dad and I had a nice afternoon. We were trying to estimate how much money our family had spent at the place
over the last 35 years.

They almost always have a "security" guard there and its questionable if they are in on some of the thefts/stolen vehicles right out from under their
noses?
On another note, the place has great eats, unique rooms, huge beach for the kid to play on and decent waves out front as well. La Palapa De Jose's is
fun when theres a band playing too.

We have enjoyed lots of fine musicians there over the years.
Palo was one of them.
