Punta San Francisquito Yellowtail
Anyone fish Punta San Francisquito lately? Or going down soon?
I am going to camp down there around July 1st with a kayak. Hoping for some yellowtail close to shore.
Thanks

well, they are reported in good numbers north of there so they must be around.
unless, of course, the ever-present inshore gills net are about in that area. It really gets pretty well hit there.

Are they in BOLA? Las Animas?
Maybe i should head over there? What do you think the best place for yellowtail close to shore? I was wondering how much longer the drive to Loreto
would be compared to San Francisquito. I think it was about 2.5 from BOLA.

I'd just say
that there is probably no better chance of catching yellers off a beach (assuming that it is not on an island) than at SFQ or El Barrill.

June 2-4 update
Arrived San Francisquito mid-afternoon on Friday. One of my friends had already caught a 25 lb yellow tail from the shore and two guys who stayed next
to us brought in two 50-60lb white sea bass that they speared free-diving about one mile out from sharks cove. The photo shows one of my friends
heading out to fish one the yellow tail boils that happened all day Saturday and Sunday. Water Temp is 69 degrees.

Maybe 40-45 lbs?
We went out for one hour and snagged one and caught two like this. Since they have no ice anymore, we gave two away and had one big fish bar b que on
Saturday.

Overall a nice weekend...
...the accomodations seem to get a little less each year. We love how remote the place is, but Gernon(?) just seems to get a little more laid back
each year. If you can, always bring ice...and a lots of it for cold beers and cervezas, margaritas, etc. and any other food you may want to enjoy. The
menu is non-existent. Still a slice of heaven no matter what!Photo was taken Sunday around noon as we departed. The black area is all bait, hence the
activity from the birds and fish. We were able to catch everything about 100 yards from shore. Just an overall great fishing experience!

everybody complains about Genaro's ice machine broken, and yes he should truck in a new one. i can't imagine being able to bring enough down for a
summer trip.
but i'll bet $$s to donutz that he has one up in the hillside casa for his personal use!!

Genaro is very opened to suggestions and aiming to please. When I was there last month I saw broken bottles and trash on the floor of the old bar
palapa where he keeps the kayaks. I asked if I could sweep up the glass, he said no and had the place completely cleaned by one of his workers in a
matter of minutes. He is really a good guy and cares about his guests but the remoteness of the location must take endless energy to keep up with.

Can't make it this spring. About what time do the yellows come through in the fall? I'm hoping to be down there early October. Let's keep our little
secret quiet!!!
