Election Day Booze Blackout

I heard my local talk show host remark on the Election Day Booze Blackout that lasted for a week during the last presidental election cycle...

Voting Day is Sun July 2nd in Baja.

What are the blackout dates?

We fly in Monday 6/26 and out Sunday 7/2

Are we going on the wagon?

The law mandating the "Dry" days - the day before and election day - was changed several years ago to allow each state to decide if it needed the "Dry" days or not. Baja California and Baja California Sur will not have these "Dry" days. Liquor will be sold after 10am as always.

I read in the Gringo Gagette that it will be decided before noon the day before the elections if there is a black out(booze out) everywhere or if the states can decide for themselves. The article said that it depended on how ugly the campaign gets...sounds like a typical GG story to me.

It was discussed quite a bit a couple weeks ago. Here's a link to that thread which quotes the law.

In Peru, two weeks ago, they stopped serving on Friday, for a Sunday election.
We walked by the Lima Hooters on Sat. night, a pretty bleak sight to see inside, coffee cups and lemonade glasses...

Booze Out Cont.

My bad, my chucklehead talk show guy didn't say it was a week, he said it was his whole vacation!

I assumed it was a week...I don't call a weekend a vacation...to me it's a weekend!

Looks like I'm a chucklehead too!

I think you are wrong on this one about there is no such law anymore. even though they seem to have repealed the national law each county is aloud to do as they please.
