curious

what do you believe amlo has lied about? do you think his lies are on a par with madrazo's? amlo has been called lots of names, but i haven't seen "liar" among them until now. politicians in general have very little credibility (on both sides of the border) so i'm curious about your comment.:?:

There is an interesting story about the election NPR's program "To The Point". It aired yesterday on KCRW. You can listen to the program on line (as an archive) at this link: http://www.kcrw.com/show/tp
The episode is "Countdown to Mexico's Presidential Election". Click on the earphones. Oh, you have to have RealPlayer to hear it -- you can download it for free off the KCRW website.

If you want a somewhat objective idea of what's happening in the election and the whole election process here -- listen to the radio program I suggest above. It'll be available on line for a week or so. It's about 30-40 minutes. Interesting guests with great perspectives.

Not too distant past

at election time I suggested to my father-in-law that he remove his 'pesos' from his account and place it in a dollar account--His wife overruled him and he lost 18,000 dollars US--on a simple election.

History has a way of repeating itself--particulary at Mexican at election time.

The world is changing and to ignore this fact is to lose!

well about amlo not being called a liar...it has happend many times...there's a constant fight between PAN and PRD...and personally i think that calderon has better ideas and even though he is still a politic...mexico has been getting better with PAN in the goverment and i think they should get another chance...as for PRI they had their 70 years of power...now let's let somone else try...

pan vs prd

the more i read and hear, the more i see analogies between pan and republicans and prd and democrats in their election rhetoric. calderon (and republicans) accuse the other side of being a potential danger to the nation's security. amlo (and democrats) accuse the other side of being beholden to rich cats and disregading the poor and downtrodden.

so how do you decide which is the worse (or bigger?) lie?
:?: i think where you stand depends on where you sit. as a democrat, i distrust those that are beholden to the fat cats. my republican friends distrust politicians they view as insufficiently prepared to confront other nations.
just mho.

Sylens------

------as a republican, I would add to your statement about your republican friends opinion/fear of democrats, "-------and their inability to keep the economy rolling along".

"Fat cats" provide the capitol to bankroll new projects, providing jobs and a healthy economy. Now if the "poor and downtrodden" would be out looking for these new jobs, then all would prosper--------trickle down in action!!

It really works. Mexico needs to consider doing things like this, instead of just making the few richer and richer, at the expense of the "poor and downtrodden".

And that is just mho.
