You all need to develop some humanity.
People who smoke live in the same cage as the drunk driver that murders people. You don't want to know what I really feel.

I read this somewhere:

Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

Sounds about right Paulina! I agree, it is a very offensive odor and dangerous environment, specially for kids and older folks (well, everyone actually).

Gracias, vgabndo and others SUPPORTING this thread! This was a new thread about NON SMOKING RESTAURANTS. Smokers, advocates of smokers or those not interested in the topic NEED NOT APPLY, READ OR REPLY. My mother died from lung cancer though she had not smoked in over 40 years. But I was there and it was painful and ugly for all of us. Enough about that...I just like enjoying great food without the enhancement of cigarette smoke --- I think all real Nomads can respect that....so we respectfully request that any other "replies" be limited to those that include names of restaurants that do not allow smoking. Gracias!

Mea Culpa

I did bust the thread. Sorry. I don't know of any place where smoking is explicitly prohibited. That said, I have noticed that at Cafe Ole in Loreto, the smokers tend to use the outside tables when they are available.

The deli is not 'smoke free' but neither is it encouraged. We decided to let our customers police their preference. When someone enquires "may I smoke?", we ask that they receive adjacent table/s permission. Most don't even go there. On the other hand, If a non-smoker picks a table next to smokers and then complains about it...They'll get an earful.

We find that most of our smokers are polite and considerate of others. They all ask for permission.

However, the real inconsiderate bast*rds are cell phone users. Anyone know of any 'cell phone free' restaurants?

TWO MORE RESTAURANTS IN ENSENADA AREA

One restaurant that is NO FUMAR in Ensenada is El Rincon on the Reforma in the same shopping center as the Super Gigante. They call it Comida Mexicana Rapida but it is excellent. Today we had their sopes (fantastico)!

Another place that is NO FUMAR in Maneadero is Cafe Jalisco on the Transpenisular on the West side of the hiway. Excellent Mexican food, especially the Cocido del Res.

mariscos bahia azul

kitty corner from tortuga just off calle primera (lopez mateos) in ensenada is also smoke free. even in the outside dining area!:bounce:

anyone know (or remember) that the state legislature passed a law that supposedly went into effect january 1, 2006, outlawing smoking in restaurants in baja california?? (norte, not sur)

for awhile casamar went smoke free, but apparently succumbed to pressure and now allows smoking (upstairs only).

I never used this word! I don't "think", I "feel", as I stated.
To think something implies. an expertise. I only feel
for my father, Mother, brother. and My friend.
Except for my friend, who lives on asthma sprays, oxygen, and nitroglycerin sublingual, They are all dead from nicotine.
Linda denies she is an addict, but has cried on my shoulder for a way to quit. She is 58, Looks 78, an has had her first stroke.
Strange thing is, it is still more important for her to have a cigarette then the fact her left side of her face droops badly.
I remember as a young boy waking up night after night, with the hacking and coughing of my father, trying desperately to catch his breath, and then the sound of his Zippo clicking and that deep sucking sound followed closely by AAHHH.
I didn't know what all this meant then, until I joined the navy in 1961. When I reported to NAS North Inland, after recruit training, the barracks I was assigned to was a temp, and of course no one over 17 years old, It is my believe it was supported by R.J. Reynolds. I wasn't an early Hotshot, so I was intimidated by all the smoke. I had to wave my hand in front of my face to find my way to my bunk. I immediately went to the commissary and bought a pack of Salem. I got laugh at because they were not Lucky Strike or at least Pall Mall. Best thing that could have happened! Made me realize I wasn't that intimidated, but it took a couple years to realize it. I will never forget the taste in my mouth when I woke in the morning or even worst when I had a cold and still was forced by my addition to suck on a butt. My kid brother followed me into the Navy and was Intimidated too, but he did not survive. 54 Years young. If you ask, "was it weak genes"? My father was born 9/11/1902, Mother 8/18/1911. Before their generation both sides normally lived into their 90s and 100s. None smoked, but was told some chewed. Talk about disgusting! If you smoke nobody wants to be near you. YOU STINK.
For all of you really smart Nomads out there, that are nicotine drug addicts, the day is not far off that when you cough and cough and cough and cough until you head is still making the motion but there is no air left, but you still try, WAKE up the end is not far off. To the butt suckers out there that want to say "it is my life and I will live it as I please" , your surviving children will disagree. I hope they are not the last one as I am. There is nobody of my generation left but me,
Sally South, No bad feelings, no bad thoughts, I want to be friends, if you won't ask me if you can to pollute my lungs. It is a stupid question and you know NOBODY wants you to harm them. That is a real problem with nice people. They will tell you "go ahead", but they really want to shove that cigarette down your throat. This subject is the only one that will alienated me. As the smoke addicts die off and the vast majority of intelligent young people realize the addictive power of nicotine, it will not be long before we make it a felony to smoke. Hope I live long enough to see it. I know you smokers will not.
