Everyday Baja
Tonight I've been looking through my photos from Baja, remembering past trips and looking forward to my next one. Thought I'd share these photos.
welcome

Lovely pictures, Natalie! You put up photos of a place you stay before, is this the same house?
Plastic chairs might make a good photo thread someday. Has it been done yet? Maybe I'll do it when I learn to post pictures...

This is a different place, Paula. The sweet orange casita from previous posts is in San Bartolo.
These photos were taken in Los Barriles last November, when Nomads member Eli was so kind as to allow me to stay in the beautiful apartment above her
Galleria Los Angeles. The large building was designed by VOS (Eli and friends) and is a most inviting blend of color and curves. For years this
building has housed the contruction business VOS, the Galleria, apartments. It is now undergoing some remodel in order to add a restaurant which will
open soon.

I'm excited about going to see Sara's gallery when we go back to Baja in the fall. And now there will be a new restaurant to try too.

Great photos as always, Nena
The restaurant will be Calib's which used to be in the little shopping center that also houses Baja Beach Company and Buzzards Bar. I understand that
they will open in Oct. They bake their own bread and, although not cheap, have very good food. One of the things that used to be on the menu was
biscuits with gravy that was Jimmy Smith's favorite. Do we see a history here?

Any more architecture photos? I'm in desperate need of design ideas and inspiration like these.
Any photos of unique Baja/Mexican doors, for example? (Mission church doors, rancho doors, colorful ones, tropical ones, painted, natural wood ?)
Trying to be creative is making my brain hurt and I would love some ideas.

Those are great doors, Cardon. I'm especially fond of the first one.. rather whimsical. Do you remember where that shot was taken?

The first door is in Todos Santos but I can't tell you how to get to it. I was just wandering around when I came across it.
The second door is from the church at the town square in Todos Santos.
When they opened the doors this is what I saw.
This gate is also in Todos Santos and is just down from the bus depot as I recall.
The third door is from the church in El Triunfo.

The first gate which is in question is in fact in Todos Santos... and it is the entry gate to Casa Bentley, just off the main street, 2 blocks down
from the bookstore. Great place to stay... a search for Casa Bentley will get you to the web site.

That's the kind of unique stuff I was talking about. Thank you Cardon. I've looked at your website before, and will revisit with a focus on this sort
of thing.
I love gate #2 ! Damn, it gets frustrating tho. If you'd given me that pile of sticks (palo de arco??), I wouldn't have thought of that design idea
in a million years...

I envie those that are creative. I like taking photos of other's creativity to make up for my own lack of the stuff. I guess you could bend those
Palo de Arco sticks into chairs or something else functional and that might be art too.
Or paint a cool design in an outdoor shower.
