My guess is that that can change at any time. they are testing the water every day and working hard to get the city sewer systems up and ruining in
both cites

I WAS ASKED TODAY BY BOB FRAMBES TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS NO FISHING COMMENT.
ALL COMERCIAL FISHING HAS BEEN HAULTED BY THE BOARD OF HEALTH HERE IN SANTA ROSALIA.
THE REASON BEING, HELLO, WE HAVE NO WATER IN SANTA ROSALIA, TILL LAST NIGHT AT 11:30. THAT WAS 8 DAYS.
THE WATER QUALITY NOW IS VERY POOR. I AM STILL HAULING MY WATER FOR THE CASITAS FROM SAN BRUNO, IN A BORROWED TANK IN THE BACK OF MY TRUCK.
IT WILL TAKE DAYS FOR THE WATER TO CLEAR AND PASS INSPECTION.
YES, WE DO HAVE WATER TESTING HERE.
SPORT FISHING IS NOT AFFECTED. I TALKED TO A GROUP OF FISHERMEN YESTERDAY IN SAN LUCAS COVE AND THEY SLAYED THEM OFF ISLA TORTUGA.
JUST MORE BAD RUMORS AGAIN.

Brenda I really take offense to your remark....JUST MORE BAD RUMORS AGAIN. what I rite here comes from the health Dept. it is not a rumor. I think
that if you are basing your info on is what some fisherman did in some other town that would be a rumor. and maybe what they are doing in your town is
deferent than here now but that still doesn't make me a lire like you Implied in your post . In your post you did not say where you got your Info. I
did and I stand by it.
the facts just the facts

Bruce,
I appreciate you and your spelling. The improtant thing is that you are giving vital information and are quoting your sources. This is not the only
reason you are having a bad week. You and your family have been tested by Mother Nature and you have come out like the sun, shining.
I would like to be in denial regarding the no fishing, no boating edict by the Mulege Health Department, but at the moment, the rule is the reality.
Also, I would like to say that you provide a vital service in Mulege because there is no bank. I will continue to use your services, even though the %
you take is not cheap. It is offset by the trip to Sta Rosalia to go to the bank, the time it takes to drive (50 minutes) and the gas consumed. The
banks offer intolorable service and the wait is often hours. Now that Mulege has a major disaster, you are a bright beacon showing the way with
verifyible information.
All the more reason for the community to support you and your business. I have heard other opinions, but I stand behind mine.
Tony

Bruce-
Is the health department saying that you shouldn't eat the fish? (catch and then sell/consume?) In otherwords, is it okay to catch and release?

I HAVE JUST SEEN ABOUT 15 BOATS GOING OUT OF THE HARBOR.
I AM NOT CALLING YOU A LIAR BUT IN YOUR POST YOU INDICATED THAT SANTA ROSALIA WAS IN YOUR INFO.
THE TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR THE OFFICE OF PESCA IN SANTA ROSALIA IS
01-615-15-21323.
ASK FOR BLANDINA, THE OFFICE MANAGER, OR MARTIN GONZALEZ, THE BOSS.
THEY CAN KEEP YOU UPDATED.
THANKS
BRENDA

So Brenda, are you saying the officials in Santa Rosalia said that sport fishing is OK but Commercial fishing is temporarily closed.
This amazes me. After having gone through Marty and Juliettta which caused a lot more flooding and destruction down south, the fishing was never
shut down for 5 minutes on the East Cape, and now the Health Department in Mulege is saying no fishing or boating. Shoot lets flood the place out and
then shut off the tourists and then everyone can have a really good time.

as of this morning they were not letting boats out of the river. I talked to some of the sport fishing captions and they said that they could not take
people out yet. I will try to get an up date from the health dept tomorrow. when I made the post yesterday they told me it included Santa Rosalia. I
am just reporting what I here from the officials not what I see going in and out of the river.

This has to be the most insane thing to come out of the flood. First, I called the office and in my simple understanding of the way the law works in
Mexico is that the Health Department would make a suggestion to the department of Fisheries or Pesca. (Guess I really do not know if that is the
case, even though that is the case here in the United States) Because of where we live, I have become a certified water operator so I am fairly up on
the treatment of drinking water and liquid waste disposal. Of course when I am in Mexico for 6 months, I talk to people about what is going on down
there.
Now we have the health department worried about the presence of E coli, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and other bugs in the water like Hepatitus A. But
if you look at the sewae disposal of both Mulege and Santa Rosalia, I'll bet you do not find anything more than a settling tank before things are sent
out into the ocean. Normally this works probably pretty well, or at least well enough to get by. When I asked about sewage disposal of Mulege and
the area on the south river like Oasis, Orchard, etc, I was told they have sewer. Well guess what, I have never seen a sewage treatment plant on that
or the North side of the river. Guess where that goes? If by conservative estimates there are 1500 residents in Mulege that means around a ton of
heavy sewage is being sent to the ocean every week.
Now as for municipal water for Mulege, I am in the dark about supply and all of that, but I do know that the water for Santa Rosalia comes from
wells in the aquifer in the Palo Verde area. Since that supplies the water for our place in San Lucas Cove I started testing that water for chlorine
residual to see if there was any chlorine in the water as stated by the water company. When I found over a 3 or 4 month period that there was no
chlorine residual I discovered from a worker that the Chlorinator was broken and had been non-functional for almost two or three years.
So now I get a little grumpy because someone does not want me or the people who make a living from sportfishing to go out in the ocean because they
are getting some high Bacteria counts by shore. There is certainly a lot of logic about commercial fishing like squid and the like if there is no
water for processesing but for crying out loud leave the sportfishing guys alone who would like to just get back to normal and take some clients out.

wow what a bunch of Bunk I hope you feel better after throwing out that huge batch of misinformation. the only true facts you have in your entire post
are the info for the Santa Rosalia water supply. well where do we start.Hmmmmm
well first these guys here arnt from the health dept here in this county thank god. they are from Mexico and with the disaster relief and are given
total authority over all local gov. these men really know what there doing and have done many things that have been needed for years such as fix your
water chlorinate.
second of all our sewer flowed down to a collection basin and is pumped over the hills to a settlement pond well away from town.
our water comes from 2 wells to the west of town and is now being chlorinated after a long time without we now have sanitary seals on both wells
thanks to these people
I don't have any more time to wast on people like you ,just do us all a favor and go back to Barstow or where ever you think things are so much
better. we have people sick and dieing and you are complaining about you not being able to go fishing .
end of rant Bruce
