We were just in the feed and seed store and the young man, who helped my husband with the sacks of chicken feed, asked him if we lived en la costa,
which I am sure is what he was calling the East Cape, which I do believe is an English/American/Canadian term. I do not recall ever hearing any
locals call it Cabo Este.
Oh I forgot, where did this discussion come from...what thread?

I understand him Bernie... He's agreeing with you and Don Jimmy.
East Cape is the east side of the peninsula south of La Paz and north of San Jose del Cabo... ie. centered at Bahia de las Palmas (Los Barriles).
As for moving a discussion, that is done by Doug or his moderators.

BAJA'S EAST CAPE...
BajaHawk is correct about the the term East Cape being a fishing related term. The name or term EAST CAPE started becoming known in the 1950's with
the opening of the Rancho Buena Vista fishing resort, and later continued to become better known and grew in popularity with the establishment of the
now world famous Van Wormer family's fishing resorts in Los Barriles. The name became synonymous with the area as stories were written about the area
in fishing journals and through the word of mouth of fishermen.
The EAST CAPE is generally thought of as being only the area from Punta Arena de la Ventana to Cabo Frailes. These North and South
boundaries being the range and main areas fished from Bahia las Palmas fishing resorts. Many consider Punta Pescadero as the northern boundary. San
Jose del Cabo is for the purpose of fishing considered to be part of "Cabo." and La Paz is NOT considered to be part of the East cape.

In addition , in the Early times of the Late 60's,before the Rise of Cabo San Lucas, each place was referred to in an indivdual Manner Such As: Punta
Colorado, La Ventana, Cabo Pulmo, Playa De Cortez, Ranch Bueno Vista.
At that time there was only the Old Cannery, Hacienda, and a small Airstrip{Now the Ferry Slip} at the Tip.
I think that "East Cape" came with the increased Attention onto Cabo San Lucas, People wanting to seperate themselves and define "Another Area".

I would still like to know what you were referring to. I am here for a same reason as most Nomads, a passion and love of the region. Although my
current circumstances only permit one deep excursion a year I spend every day of the rest of the year dreaming and planning my next trip (which now
includes my six year old son).
I have been lurking in the shadows of the Nomad board for several years; it took me that long to develop the courage and notion that I might have
something to contribute. So THANK YOU again for the apology - I was seriously reconsidering being an active member here.
