While making a little ceviche, I wondered,

could this have been the motivation for the colors of the Mexican flag???

since all the photos of old are temporarily missing, a little spice for the photos forum...

Taco de Baja. Huckleberries?:D Think maybe it's just got to be sliced and diced, while flipping on the filet board. Do it up before the flies find you.:D

You guys like sashimi the asian equivalent to ceviche? Me and some friends once stopped at this tiny little deserted island. We had some freshly caught yellowtail and one the guys pulled out some sashimi stuff and wasabi. We sat sround and devoured this thing without any utensils or napkins, just our hands. we must've looked like cavemen or something. That was my introduction to wasabi and I've been hooked since

I remember that day

we were in the Sierras. We had hiked over Kersarge Pass and into the wilderness area. There was an awful summer storm that blew in. We were soaked and cold and hungary.
My dad went down to a little pond and caught a bunch of half-breeds on flies. We had trouble maintaining a fire because of the nature of things.

Believe me when it comes to raw fish, trout doesn't cut the mustard. :barf:

Thank you all for the info regarding fresh/salt water fish and eating it raw. For some reason or another. fresh water fish, raw, never seemed like a good idea. Down south, towards the end of summer, they get pretty wormy.:):)

all fish have worms most ppl do to lol
its just that the fresh water verity arnt killed by the acid of the lime and grow very well once inside the warmth of the human body feeding like kings and reproducing with some real nasty sideffects

Last 4th of July I thought of soaking the cilantro in blue food coloring (like the celery trick back in grade school), but figured why (potentially) waste a good batch of sea bass ceviche...blue stained onions and juice didn't sound to appealing

the green jalapenos, yellows, and serranos go in last.....

Yep, just when they are large visible coiled buggers...:O Yikes!

killed by"acid of the lime" hmmmm, very interesting Jerry. You are saying that fresh water fish parasites or rather worms, are not killed by ascorbic acid whereas saltwater worms are?

I realize that salmon is eaten raw and lives it's life in both environments. I have never had ceviche made from Salmon nor do I care to. They can have the worms also it states.

I'll check this out some more...intriguing

something informative from the NY Times(believe it or not)

I sorta got sidetrcked from the ceviche.

did I hear once that eating the wasabi and ginger with sushi is to kill parasites??can't remember....I do like my green mud!
