Last week in Morro Bay:

Unusual to see these two species in the same frame:

Those white spots on the nude almost look like barnacles. But they can't be. How strange.

Thank you for sharing Ken.

Great shots, Ken, as usual.

What is the green metal cross or X in the one shot? Is that part of your gear? Tripod base?

tehag

it was some type of wire mesh (epoxy coated, I think, based on the green color) that ran through and around the tube the fringehead was in. There is an amazing amount of junk under this pier and all of it creates habitat and hiding places for the animals that live there. It was not a part of my gear.

No, it was pretty typical. The visibility in Morro Bay is never very good, I don't think I've ever seen more than about 10-15 ft horizontal. But you don't need much viz for this type of macro image, remember the subjects are very small and just a few inches in front of the port.

Muchas gracias for the kind words Skipjack, Diver, Natalie Ann, tehag, chino and Don Alley!! Skipjack the spots on the triopha nudibranch are actually slightly raised - very unusual.

Muchas gracias Bob H and Cincodemayo. Cinco I used to do the contest circuit a long time ago when I first started getting some recognizable underwater images, and I guess I did pretty well, but it was kinda bruising on the ego at times. Now I get all the ego I need from the nice comments Nomads post on the board .

That's what I told my wife last night. All that junk in my bedroom creates a wonderful habitat for my current hobbies and projects. So please don't tidy anything up.

Aren't the lessons from nature wonderful?
