Bahia San Rafael 11 5-10
Another great trip! Crossed the border Friday night, got our tourist papers no problema. Spent the night at Santa Isabel in Ensenada. Made it to BOLA
and Daggetts camp for Saturday night.
Finally got out to San Raphael Sunday around noon. Two kayaks and a 14 foot inflatable with a small motor made fish catching a breeze. Nothing big
but probably 10 different species. Fishing from the beach was great also. My amigo Ned caught a 22 inch Corvina from the beach.
Six guys hanging out playing guitars, hiking, swimming, dancing with Pancho.
Had a small military plane buzz our camp a couple time. Pancho, who lives there, says a lot of drogas are brought across the Sea of Cortez on Pangas.
Saw a falcon try to fly off with a full size duck! He ended up dropping it and the duck scurried back into the laguna.
I wish those dudes in the sand rails wouldn't step on the gas as soon as they pass our car kicking up rocks into windshields. It was nice not to see
too many of them. They are much more uptight than the typical baja rat

Great post. Love these stories.
We are going down next month. I am trying to sort out my fishing tackle. I plan to fish the surf and to do some panga fishing.
What size rods, reels and line do you use? What sort of lures, bait, hook size etc.
What fun!!

Hey Martyman-
Thanks for the update. We had planned on visiting Pancho but ended up staying in Asuncion for the entire week. I hope to sneak down sometime soon.

Hey:
Thanks for the replies. Hook-no Jurel or Halibut to be seen on this trip. Didn't even see any pangas fishing for them. I have a small boat so we
stayed fairly close to camp. We did try some higher speed trolling with mirrolures but no bites.
Iflyfish we use Baja Catch setups for the most part- 20lb spinning gear with 40 lb conventional gear. We don't use any high end gear, just stuff from
sportmart. We do invest in lures using 4-5 inch Yozuris and larger Rapalas, also 3-4 oz Krocodiles and Kastmasters. We dropped some iron but didn't
have any success. It seems like all our fish were caught very close to shore.
When is my next trip?

Thanks
