Big problems with Gasoline in BCS

going to be out of gasoline for a while it looks like. it sounds like they are out most places north of Mulege and one station is still pumping here in Mulege. they say it will be out tomorrow morning and it will be next week at the soonest for them to get more. I guess the problem is with the ferry.

Just heard from someone who was in La Paz this afternoon... many places out of gas.
Rumor is that is the case in Cabo as well:o

As I posted earlier, I arrived in Cabo at 6:45am. All gas stations closed. Left Cabo @ 12:30pm and gas stations still closed.

Anybody have a report for the San Felipe area? Is it affected that far north? Or does San Felipe get fuel from another source?

Heading down tomorrow for 9 days.

No gas in Todos Santos. At the gas station in Pescadero, there are long lines of cars.

Oh, I'm still here. I'm just glad that my gasoline car that I'm driving down to Cabo next week gets over 30 mpg on the road.

Just went out for gas in La Paz (6 PM MST 12-14-06). 3 stations checked were out of gas. One said he would have gas at 8 PM. So, we'll try again at 8. Northers are supposed to lie down tomorrow, if the gas barge is the problem. Lots of holedup boats left today, more tomorrow. Sure will have an economic impact. Kinda like the old days, carry a siphon tube.

I just filled up at the new Pemex on Independencia and they only have premium. I don't go to either of the other two rip-off gasolineras anymore so don't know about them.

OK, station that said he would have gas at 7 PM did get gas. Lines of cars getting it, but gas is here in La Paz. Was out to Tecolote this PM and there was a big tanker ship moored at the Pemex plant. Maybe he delivered. Anyway, as of now, the neighborhood station near Marina de La Paz has gas. So let's hope it is on its way up north.

Would that be a good idea? I figure I'd get about 100 miles from a 5 gallon can.

I've also read that I can't bring gas into Baja. How about an empty can that I fill once inside Baja?

You can fill all the gas cans you want while in Mexico. The rule for gas is not entering Mexico with fuel in cans. Unless your my brother, he just flashes his Fireman's badge, works!

Otherwise, I just fill my cans when I stop in San Felipe for a top-off heading south.

Lee , definately take about half a dozen extra emptys and fill them at El Rosario or San Quentin. If this is simply a weather related problem , it will go away rapidly but if its political who knows? just be prepared.

What a bad time for this to happen with all the holiday travel coming up .

Maybe its time Baja gets its immigration under control:lol:
