Hotel Reservations Policy
I think I made reservations at The Chapala hotel in San Felipe for March. Is it usual policy in Mex to not give a confirmation number for the
reservation ? Also they said they didn't need a credit card ? So did I make a reservation or not ?

Yes, you made a reservation. Many times they just take your name, address, etc., and if you don't show up, they rent it to someone else, at least
here in San Felipe. Just make sure you give them an arrival time if you're coming in late. They will hold it for you. We're growing fast, but some
things haven't changed yet.

In San Felipe it seems better to just show up with or without reservations.
Be sure to eat at "El Nido" and say hi to Juan.

Show up (reasonably) early, buy a beer and be prepared to camp out in the parking lot/beach/roof/guest room/ bed of an old pickuptruck that broke down
20 years ago.
Whatever you do, do with a smile. Smiles and laughs go a long way in Baja.

Another reason I'm not so sure about the reservation is that the San Felipe 250 is that weekend and I have heard that the town is usually sold out.
Without a confirmed reservation I'm thinking I may be without a room. I guess I can show up with a smile and see whtat happens.

If you are not there to catch the race, then I suggest changig your plans. You can't even drive across town on race day as the streets are detoured
and traffic is crazy. Before and after the race it will be loud and crowded... So, you've been warned!
If you are going for the race and the 'action', then you will have a blast...

You do have a confirmation, but since it will sell out as you say, try to get a deposit to them in some way for the first night, ususaly they can give
you an acount number or at least get an email confirmation.
