I imagine I received the same email (from "Barry?").

A simple check of WHOIS (http://www.easywhois.net) reveals that it's the same ownership as bajaquest.com:

Domain Name(s):
bajaforums.com
bajaquest.com

Registrant:
Bliss Adrian Richards

Fax: +1.2093694929

bajaforums.com:
Created on: 2002-Nov-25.
Expires on: 2003-Nov-25.
Domain servers:
NS1.WH18.INFOPOP.NET
NS2.WH18.INFOPOP.NET

They also appear to be hosting the forum at infopop, creators of UBB, which is the same software that Amigos de Baja are using. Notice the domain was registered last week (11/25/02).

And no, there's no connection besides they've got one or two links to my sites from the new site.

I'm guessing "Barry" is Barry Richards:

While I sincerely appreciate your concern, I don't feel I've been ripped off. By a fluke chance I put a newer-style bulletin board online before a few others (and not that long before), and these boards are a natural evolution for this type of content. If you look at it, the bajaforums main board has been "styled" a little closer to the Amigos de Baja board than this one. Both boards use UBB software (most likely a coincidence). The first two forum names are identical. Most of the descriptions for each of those two forums have been copied word-for-word as well (minus one reference to "Amigos de Baja").

I noticed that bajaforums also uses a frame to make it appear that Fred Metcalf's site is part of the content of bajaforums. I don't know if permission was sought for that or not. Just an observation.

Overall, having more boards to choose from will only benefit users over the long-run, as the boards with the most traffic will have to adapt or lose visitors. Without the other boards providing this sort of incentive, there's little reason to change "for the better."
