Road from Asuncion to Punta Abreojos

I found one report from last year that this road is terrible. Has anyone traveled it recently? Are there any simple motels and or cafes along the way?

How far is it from Asuncion to Punta Abreojos and then to Highway one and what is that road like? Is it possible to drive from Asuncion to San Ignacio in a day?

Other than Guerrero Negro, we know nothing about that area, which is why we are interested.

Sorry, more than one question---oh, we will be driving our 4WD Tundra.

Thanks
Diane

The road from Asuncion to Abreojos conditions change alot depending on whether it has been graded lately. the part from Asuncion to San Hipolito is well graded as the coop does this but the part from there to La Bocana usually sucks big time...bad washboard but there isn't alot of it...but it is a pain for sure and we got 3 flats once on this road so bring spares and air etc. but it's lovely along the coast and the fish camps are cool. Just fill your cooler up before you leave. Stop in and see us before you go!

what kind of tires Shari, gee, I want to buy those!

Traveled that road often, bumpy but liveable, worth the trip to Abreojos!

Also stop in San Hipolito and especially Punta Prieta, some of the nicest people you will meet in Baja. Say hi from el Vikingo de Punta Abreojos.

If in Abreojos look up Deborah, her house is right before you hit the first street in Abreojos....coming from La Bocana.....safe trip and that coast road is REALLY worth the drive.

About 60 Miles. In Jan the road was great from Abreojos to San Hipolito. But as Shari says, conditions change. One day trip is very doable depending on how long you stay in one spot. Recommend you spend some time along the coast if you can.
When are you going? I am going to take the a quad trip from Abreojos to Asuncion in March and can report on conditions then.

Thanks for all the answers. We hope to leave home this Thursday---YEA, at last, we may get out of here! Been trying to get back to Baja since November!

Guess I need to change my mood from pensive to really excited. This will be a quicker trip than originally planned, but off we go----SOON.
