yeah, it's great! they got little cabins, just a place to rest your head. Hot showers and banjos.

They also have Tiki huts if you have a camper...estero Coyote is beautiful, there's an oyster farm there, see Torlino, hola from Vikingo! Really need a boat for any fishing. small is good.

About 7 miles to Abreojos, again stop by and say hi to Deborah.

Town has a tire shop, a number of marcados, couple of restaurants, harware stores, internet cafe. And lots and lots of really good people!

have a safe and great trip George

Don't go with expectations of comfort. Those rooms are old and run down. I am sure the bed stinks, especially if you have back problem. There really isn't anything better in town either. Chello"s is nice, but the beds stink there too. You can rent a small boat to fish the estero, but since esteros are nurseries for the ocean...well the fishing is good and catch & release should have been inforced a long time ago. If you like the boonies, you'll like Campo Rene. My place is in front of the lighthouse. Nothing there and I'm in Cabo, but take a walk around and check out the view. I put a pile of rocks in the driveway so you can't drive in, but you are welcome to walk up and see for yourself. Let me know what you think when you get back and have a great trip. Love to get up there myself, but duty and bills call.

at 10 bucks a night (?) maybe 15, ya can't expect much and the location is special.

The cabins, although rustic, are being/have been renovated. New people there who have really cleaned the place up. New cook (Yolanda) who is doing a good job. It is still far from a for star hotel but getting better.

As always, Thanks for the replies. Good information! Even though this trip will be FAR too short, we really look forward to going to an area where we have not been before.

We don't have our camper, (will miss it) just a shell on our Tundra---but we are taking camping stuff---tent for the stuff and futon for the back of the Truck---we don't want to sleep on the ground anymore, we may never be able to get up. :tumble:

So, we plan on staying in motels and or camping depending on where we are and the conditions.

Off to pack!
Diane

So, what would fishing be like outside the estero in mid-March? Is that a tame time for the surf?

Is the fishing better up at La Bocana at that time?

Have a great trip, Diane, and thanks again for that Panama website.

go into Abreojos and say hi to Deborah....ask Chelo at Chelos Pizza how to get there, actually ask just about anyone in town...

I'm sure Deborah will enjoy the company.

Hey George,
Do you know many or any of the lobster fishermen in abreojo's? Many years ago I fished with a guy named Fousto. I can remember this guys name because the hurricane that left the day before we got there was named Fousto. I plan on going to abreojos at the end of september.

Thanks for the info. I will look him up. He's a good skipper and seems like a nice guy. I'm curious how much has changed at abreojo's since I was there last. The last time I was there we were not welcome by all. Somebody wrote some negitive stuff on our truck useing their finger and our dust on the truck

Fausto is a great guy. One of his lobster traps washed up on shore full of lobster one day. I grabbed them took them to the co-op and he ended up giving me a couple. Hard worker. I have never fished with him, but I hear good things. Gorilla is another good choice if Fausto is booked up.

Whistler, Best I can figure it was 10-12 years ago. Just the one event and no other problems. It just kinda freaked me out for the rest of the trip cuz I didn't know what to exspect. We were treated very well by everyone we came in contact with, even had dinner with one of the local familys. Great people. As far as getting a pangalero its not needed I have a kayak. I heard they moved the dump so that should be better. We use to stay be the old light house but this next trip we will be staying at someone lot. I'm sure it has changed a whole bunch since I was there last.
