A nice note that pre running is to begin AFTER the Presidents Day weekend... Even though pre running is not to be done a race speeds, there is always the chance of an incident between holiday trafic on those roads and pre runners... Now that SCORE has put pre-running after the 3 day weekend, that relieves a chance of problems.

From the maps it looks like the course is the same as the 2001 course. The first 82.3 miles are the same. However, to check 3 it is .9 miles shorter. Matomi wash is 3.7 miles shorter. Overall this course is 7.5 miles shorter. The last several years have really changed things. Must be global warming. Or they found the Honda short cut.

We pre-ran alot of this last year and there are lots of hiden big gotcha rocks in the washes from past rains. The course along Puertocitos road is very rough. I think this will keep traffic down on its own. The paved sections are certainly a hazard, but only an idiot would be at speed there. Oops, I just stated the obvious hazard issue, huh.
