Libros Books

Our sign painter painted the correct words on the side of our building but not in the order we had wanted. No worrys, right!

On Saturday, two couples showed up at the door with big smiles on their faces. I welcomed them into our shop and they started looking around. One lady said, Only new books? I answered, Yes. They hung around for about 5 minutes, said thanks and left.

As I was closing the door, I heard one lady say....Well I thought that the sign said "Free Books"

:biggrin::light::?:

Book store...
Maybe you an help.
I am the president of our local library board (Which has not much to do with the operations of the place)
We have a wonderful collection in English, and our Spanish collection is very weak.
The acquisitions person keeps telling me that they cannot get most of the books that I request.
For instance, "Kite Runner" was #1 on the NYTimes list for two years, and they say it is not available.
I found it, on line, through an Argentine publisher, but the librarian tells me that they cannot get it from any US brokers.
Any thoughts on how to bust that log jam?
Amazon has some books in Spanish and I order them occasionally.
When I visit Ensenada or DF I always hit the bookstores, and find good stuff, but here in California it is pretty bleak.
(I should mention, my wife is from Jalisco and prefers to read in Espanol)

Thanks for any help,
U2U me if that is a better way to communicate, although I think this is a topic of some general interest...

Bajarunner
Not all best sellers are translated into Spanish; although more and more are every day. There are rights issues with foreign published books that forego US publishers from carrying them. Since we buy books from many different publishers, my husband suggested that you send us a list and we will see if we can get them for you.

I found this interesting article about Spanish books titles

Thanks guys, very helpful,
Hopefully the entire publishing industry will get a hint and do a better job of translating for all those who are living in a new language setting.

Now, if someone could just come up with a nice copy of "La Cometa del Cielo" for Teresa it would be terrific!!!

("Kite Runner" for those of you scratching your heads. A fantastic read!!!)
