We did our Lab before her first heat....seems to be ok....for a Lab....:lol::lol:

PS:....Bajame, you may want to get her spayed instead of spade, big difference for the puppy!!!

Don't know about dogs, but if the cat is a female I'd get it spayed soon. We were told to wait until 6 months, but our cat went into heat at 5. It lasted nearly two weeks and came back periodically and without warning. The cats personality completely changes (in not a good way). It's funny for about...maybe a day... then get's old really quick.

They can be spayed while in heat, but I'm told it's much more invasive surgery, more expensive, and for the well being of the cat should be avoided.

I'd much rather have avoided the whole "in heat" experience.
The only good thing is that you really appreciate your cat's normal behavior when it's over.

The recommended age to spay is 4 months. Earliest neuter is when the pups testicles drop.
