Lowrance 5500c

I'm looking into the Lowrance 5500c or the Baja series gps units. Any recomendations on which is better or any other unit I should look into. It would be used for automotive application for off road travel. Currently I've been using a Magellan Meridian and I'm happy with it but I would like a larger screen.

I love my Garmin (marine use) and their customer service after the sale is hard to beat. I'm not familiar with the Lowrance line but the one suggestion I would sure make if your are looking at plotter/street map type unit is to go with color. It makes all of the difference in the world when veiwing.

We are heading into the boatshow season so specials should be readily available. I would also suggest that you go to the Garmin website www.garmin.com and check out their Special promotions page. Back when I bought my 182C they gave me $100 for turning in my old Loran unit, the special price on the new unit and $50 rebate on the Bluechart chip.
